Purpose: This article outlines opportunities and challenges pertaining to service delivery faced by audiologists and speech-language pathologists/therapists working in Arabic-speaking Middle Eastern nations. Among the most diverse regions in the world, the Middle East is a region characterized by rapid development in a number of sectors relevant to audiology and speech-language pathology, including education and health care. Despite these developments, there remains a number of challenges, including growing service demands, awareness of the scope of practice of audiologists and speech-language pathologists/therapists, regulation of clinical practice, and shortages of clinicians and evidence-based clinical resources. Conclusion: Developments to address these challenges, as well as strategies that may enhance service delivery, will be presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
