Date Presented 04/23/2023 Interventions that support persons to leave homelessness are known to be effective for improving housing stability but are less effective for supporting thriving after homelessness. This presentation will describe a community-based participatory research project that was conducted to codesign a novel intervention called the 'Peer to Community Model,' aimed at supporting individuals to integrate in their communities after homelessness through meaningful activity and peer support. Date Presented 04/22/2023 Because of inequitable distribution of resources, rates of homelessness and food insecurity continue to rise in high-income countries. We completed a systematic review and meta-aggregation to understand the experiences of food insecurity during and after homelessness in high-income countries. Our findings suggest that food insecurity is a serious occupational issue for individuals who are unhoused and housed after homelessness. Implications from an OT perspective will be discussed. Date Presented 04/19/2023 A growing number of OTs are involved in research and practice with persons who experience homelessness. To support OT research and practice in this area, our team developed the Bridging the Transition Framework (BTTF). This workshop will provide an overview of the BTTF and its various components and engage attendees in activities that illustrate ways of using the BTTF in research and practice using videos conducted with persons with lived experience. Date Presented 04/22/2023 Suicide is a leading cause of mortality worldwide. OTs regularly encounter persons who are at risk of suicide in their practice, and they need to be aware of strategies to mitigate risk. Suicide safety planning is an evidence-based intervention designed for this purpose. We conducted this systematic review to synthesize effectiveness studies to determine the outcomes and components of safety planning interventions to direct future OT research and practice.
