The article offers information on the utilization of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and material requirements planning systems (MRP) of Royal Philips Electronics in the Netherlands in the 1960s and 1970s. It notes that Royal Philips was the first one who uses this kind of computer technology to link several functions in the company which include accounting, inventory control, and human resources management. It states that during 1940s, companies only use carbon-copied forms on their business transactions which later resulted to many inconsistencies. It indicates the International Business Corp. (IBM) developed their version of ERP and MRP systems by introducing Production Information and Control System (PICS).
