The article focuses on the letters written by soldier Otto Frank about his efforts to bring his family to the U.S. from Amsterdam, Netherlands during World War I. In one letter that was addressed to his American college friend Nathan Straus Jr., he stated the difficult processes and requirements involved in obtaining a U.S. visa such as deposits, sponsors and affidavits. Frank's wife, Edith and his two daughters, Anne and Margot died in concentration camps after being captured by the Nazis.
