Fossil fuels have been able to fulfil nearly a quarter of world energy demand. These fuels are always associated with emissions such as oxides of nitrogen (NOX), oxides of sulphur (SOX), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon di oxide (CO2) and unburnt hydrocarbons (UHC) [1]. These emissions have harmful environmental impacts both at a local and global such as the case in New Delhi with vehicle pollution being one of the major areas of concern. In this study, the diesel has been blend with Jatropha biodiesel in 10% and 15% blends respectively and measure the performance and emission characteristics. It is observed during the working of single cylinder four stroke diesel engine fuel with bio diesel with 3.7 kW power running with 1500 rpm, it works efficiently with less emissions compared to diesel operations.
