The article reports on a study conducted by Yasuhiro Sawada and Michael Sheetz of Columbia University in New York City regarding cellular tension. It was discovered that cellular tension causes stretching of a normally coiled cytoskeletal protein and as a result communicate the force downstream. The resulting signals help direct cells in wound healing and development.
