Chapter LVI of the book "Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White Volume II" is presented. It presents a recollection of events during the discovery of a petrified giant statue known as "the Cardiff Giant" at Onondaga Valley in New York. After many arguments, studies and theories, it was found to be fraud, which was supported by Professor Schlottman's view, and was only devised by a horse dealer to swindle a good sum of money.

Chapter XLIII of the book "Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White," Volume II, by Andrew Dickson White is presented. It tells the assassination of President McKinley at Buffalo, New York, a day after he delivered his speech. He mentioned that at first, the Germans disliked and distrusted McKinley, but later admired him and sympathized with the Americans. He also presented several letters from different officials including U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt and Secretary of State John Hay.

Chapter XX of the book "Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White," Volume I, is presented. It explores the first years of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York which officially opened on October 7, 1868. It projects the ideas presented by Dickson White and Ezra Cornell in a speech during the inauguration of the university. It also explains White's objectives which are presented in his "plan of organization" and explores the role of the student body in the success of the university.

Chapter XVIII of the book "Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White," Volume I, is presented. It explores White's encounter with Ezra Cornell, his co-legislator at the State Senate in New York. It discusses the drafting of the Cornell University Charter and the struggle they both encompass to overcome the attack of the coalition against them. White also analyzes Cornell's personality including his political ideas, intellectual and moral characteristics, and religious convictions.

Chapter XIX of the book "Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White," Volume I, is presented. It explores Dickson White's presidency at the Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and the difficulties he encountered in organizing the university. White recounts his efforts to thwart successfully the division of the land-grant fund as his chairmanship role in the Committee on Education. It also explores the challenges in the selection of teachers wherein Goldwin Smith and Dr. James Law are selected.

Chapter XIV of the book "Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White," Volume I, is presented. It explores the author's candidacy for the governorship of New York wherein he agreed to discuss the subject with Thomas C. Platt. It presents the author's view on the presidential campaigns in 1896 and 1900 where McKinley was renominated as President and Theodore Roosevelt as Vice-President. It discusses the message that President Theodore Roosevelt gave the author to the Emperor William.

Chapter XII of the book "Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White," Volume I, is presented. It explores the author's view on the tenure of President Chester Alan Arthur. It discusses the author's article for the "North American Review," which presented the general advantages of civil service reform and its claims on men that hold public office. It highlights the defeat of the Republican Party in 1882 and the impression of the author on the career of Grover Cleveland as Governor of New York.

Chapter VII of the book "Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White," Volume I, is presented. It explores the author's second year in the State Senate where he struggles for the charter of Cornell University. It discusses the author's view on the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln and on the arrival of presidential party in New York City with the new President, Mr. Andrew Johnson. It highlights the speeches the author have delivered during his third year of service in 1866.

It recounts the settlement of New Englanders including the author's grandparents in New York. It explores the author's recollection of his early days in central New York, including his intellectual and educational development. The author describes some people he met during his education.
