Abstract

The article focuses on how action research can be a vehicle for professional development in New Zealand. The concept of action research has been in use in the country for some time now. In the field of curriculum issues, action research has been used to improve educational outcomes in curriculum areas through collaborative activity. It's cyclical nature lends itself to any issue where long-term, sustained change is sought. One of such issues is professional development. At an individual level, action research contributes to changed practice.
