Abstract

The article discusses a study that characterized methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) isolates from cats in Europe and North America for their genetic relationships and antimicrobial resistance phenotypes and genotypes. The researchers observed that all isolates were resistant to Β-lactam antibiotics, macrolides/lincosamides, gentamycin/kanamycin, kanamycin, streptomycin, trimethoprim and ciprofloxacin. They also noted an exchange of MRSP isolates between dogs and cats in Europe.
