The article examines the perceived importance of geospatial skills in the workforce and summarizes the geospatial education offered at the top 10 forestry programs in North America. It also investigates how one forestry curriculum provides geospatial instruction to undergraduate, professional certificate, and continuing education students. The potential challenges that geospatial education programs may encounter were identified as well as the technological developments that can make teaching activities more efficient for instructors and more accessible for students. According to the author, geospatial technology becomes a standard part of most forestry and natural resource operations with the use of global positioning systems, digital measurement instruments, and remote sensing platforms.
