The article discusses an approach to estimate the fatigue damage in non-collinear wind sea and swell for a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit in the Norwegian Sea. It states the hydrodynamic and structural analyses involved in the fatigue assessment method. It cites the potential impact of mean stress reduction on the fatigue damage. The authors concluded that the fatigue damage sustained by the starboard side of the FPSO was larger than the port side considering the environmental loads and conditions of vessel loading in the site.
