The article presents a study on the implication of the decline in forest bird occurrence in early-seral broadleaf forest to bird population. The study used two avian point-count data from southwestern and northwestern Oregon that were gathered using fixed-radius point counts while gradient nearest neighbor (GNN) method was used to characterize the number of broadleaf cover. Results show that the viability of forest birds in Oregon is affected by broadleaf and early-seral broadleaf forest.
