The article examines the impact of economic sanctions on human rights in several countries as of December 2015. Human rights in Burma has reportedly remained unsatisfactory especially for the Rohingya population, however, improvements took place starting in 2011. Other topics include the imposition of martial law in China in 1989 to stop democracy demonstrations, the political condition in the U.S. in 1992, and the apartheid and its impact on South Africans. Also discussed are the economic sanctions imposed by the administration of U.S. President Ronald Reagan on Cuba, Poland's geopolitical role in breaking free from communist oppression and subordination to the Soviet Union, and the failure of economic sanctions to protect human rights.
