This article presents a study identifying the curriculum by using the Delphi process at the Centre for Medical Education in the University of Montreal, Montreal, Quebec. Based on an extensive search of educational textbooks and journals, a list of 126 items representing key education concepts was developed. Each item was assigned to 1 of 6 arbitrarily labelled pedagogic domains such as, curriculum and instructional theory; assessment of learning; assessment of programmes, and education research. All participating core members completed 3 rounds of the Delphi consensus building exercise. Based on results 20 most highly rated items, and the list of poorly understood important concepts were used to design a 1-year seminar course in basic pedagogy for all members.
