Abstract

The article reports on the results of a study on pharmacotherapy for injection drug users (IDU) conducted by researcher Michael D. Stein and colleagues at Brown University School of Medicine in Rhode Island. The researchers found that depressive symptoms among IDU were significantly associated with risk-taking. They assessed that combined pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy treatments for depressed IDU did not reduced human immunodeficiency virus drug-risk behaviors.
