Our research aims at recovering the biography of one name within the historical list of the Romanian physicians from Transylvania: Dr. Nicolae Stoia. At the beginning of the second half of the 19th century he was a well-known figure among his co-nationals - chief-physician of the Răşinari borough and later chief-physician of the Greek- Catholic Metropolitan See of Blaj, member of the political and national elite, Dr. Stoia passed away suddenly, before he reached 50, without leaving behind many documentary traces. His years of study at the University of Vienna, his good relations with some of his professors and the years of practice in this city's hospitals could have given him the opportunity of a career in the Empire's capital. Instead, he had chosen to return to Transylvania in 1861, in order to take part in the political enthusiasm generated by the new liberal regime. During the next two decades, Dr. Stoia was present at many of the important political actions of the Romanians from Transylvania, in the meanwhile fulfilling his professional duty as a physician in Răşinari and Blaj, until 1878 when he was forced to retire to Vienna for medical treatment. In 2011, Nicolaus Olahus (1493-1568), Transylvanian humanist scholar, clergyman, founder of schools, bibliophile, archbishop primate of Esztergom (appointed in 1553) and regent of Hungary (appointed from 1562) has been released from a long and undeserved oblivion when the Bucharest Library Publishing House edited and published, in Romanian, his main writings: Hungary, Attila, Poems. In addition, Antal Gyöngyvér - teacher of Latin in High School "Bolyai Farkas" from Târgu Mureş (who also translated the works in Romanian) - wrote the monograph Nicolaus Olahus. Standing Humanities. Hungaria and Attila, both historical and literary books, have been written in 1536, in Brussels. Attila was printed in Basel in 1568, while Hungaria - less known - was printed only in 1735, in Posonium (Bratislava). Mrs. Antal Gyöngyvér adds of the two texts mentioned above a third title - Poems, which includes the first Romanian version of the prose poems written by Olahus. The nearly 500 pages monograph, Nicolaus Olahus. Standing Humanities, is a scholarly work of a scholar, a comprehensive and detailed research, including the stylistic reference layout and the scientific approach, a must have for all prestigious and important Romanian public and university libraries. Bucharest Library Publishing House, by publishing the four volumes, made a praiseworthy cultural and literary work of restitution. The author of the reviews, himself a well known bibliologist and a very experienced scholar, undertakes a very thorough approach analyzing some issues of the humanist's personal library, considering writings for illuminating various aspects of political, social and cultural history, pointing out the essential question of evaluation and contextualization of Olahus' works. The political and cultural framework forms the background on which the activity of Olahus was projected and needs to be understood, one more reason for which the author recommends worth reading the books signed by Mrs. Antal Gyöngyvér. In 2005, after a life experience of teaching, Melente Nica, through this volume proved that he did not forget the example that Ioan Slavici gave, as his shadow followed him, his entire life. The author's approach is realized in the early years of his career (1958-1960), when the young man, a future teacher of History and Romanian Language and Literature was looking for his ideal of future pedagogue. He found everything he was looking for in the image of Ioan Slavici. This volume contents a small piece from the life of the person that described like no one else, the specific village from Ardeal Area. The biographic approach tried to catch the element of amazement both in the work of the writer and in the stories of those who knew him, or from other less known writings that belonged to Slavici.
