Background: Cervical cancer remains a significant public health concern in Europe. Effective introduction and scaling up of human papillomavirus (HPV) detection-based cervical cancer screening (CCS) requires a systematic assessment of health systems capacity. However, there is no validated capacity assessment methodology for CCS programmes, especially in European contexts. Addressing this gap, our study introduces an innovative and adaptable protocol for evaluating the capacity of CCS programmes across varying European health system settings. Methods: Our research team developed a three-step capacity assessment framework, incorporating a health policy review checklist, a facility visit survey, and key informants' interview guide followed by a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis. Piloting this comprehensive approach, we explored the CCS capacity in three countries: Estonia, Portugal and Romania. These countries were selected due to their contrasting healthcare structures and resources, providing a diverse overview of the European context. Results: Conducted over a period of 9 months, the capacity assessment covered multiple resources, 27 screening centres, 16 colposcopy and treatment centres and 15 key informant interviews. Our analysis highlighted both shared and country-specific challenges. A key common issue was ensuring high compliance to follow-up and management of screen-positive women. We identified considerable heterogeneity in resources and organization across the three countries, underscoring the need for tailored, rather than one-size-fits-all, solutions. Conclusions: Our study's novelty lies in the successful development of this capacity assessment methodology implementable within a relatively short time frame, proving its feasibility for use in various contexts and countries. The resulting set of materials, adaptable to different cancer types, is a ready-to-use toolkit to improve cancer screening processes and outcomes. This research marks a significant stride towards comprehensive capacity assessment for CCS programmes in Europe. The analysis of a country’s development areas requires a clear understanding, by decision-makers, of political, economic, social or environmental phenomena. By analysing the level of awareness and evolution of the policy and strategy of the maritime domain, correlated with their related elements, we can state that Romania has a much greater potential than the level and complexity of development at this date, and the awareness of the importance of the maritime domain should contribute substantially to its evolution. We appreciate that maritime security is a particularly important element in a country’s maritime policy and strategy. In the following contextual analysis, with a view to providing the most appropriate decision support, we seek to examine the rise of maritime security in both conceptual and practical terms. We argue that the developments in the maritime arena have been analysed by various international forums, in security studies, and that a new national agenda for maritime security studies is needed. However, much remains to be studied in the future and a direction for further research should be provided. Thus, the approach taken through this article will contribute to the awareness of the fact that, in Romania, the importance of the maritime sector has declined greatly in the past three decades. The objective of our approach is to make national decision-makers aware of the importance of the maritime domain and, above all, of its contribution to the development of the country. The present paper1 attempts to discuss several cases of source text (ST) words and the target text (TT) equivalent words attributed to them, as well as of their target language (TL) one-to-one equivalents on the basis of componential analysis. This endeavour is focused on identifying the contextual sense components of these words and revealing the distinctive features that have made a certain TT word the most suitable translation of a ST word, although there is not a one-to-one equivalence relation between them. The contexts in which these particular words occur are represented by bilingual English-Romanian examples selected from our bilingual corpus of EU legal documents. Componential analysis can be used not only to single out the most appropriate translation solution during the process of translation, but also as a means to interpret an already chosen TL equivalent word by determining the sense components that can account for its context appropriateness and functionality, even though this equivalent word may not be the result of a componential analysis carried out by the translator, but merely an intuitive and/or experience-based choice. From a teaching-oriented perspective, the analysis conducted in this paper might represent a method for approaching componential analysis as translation procedure. By analyzing relevant bilingual examples, attempting to extract and compare the sense components of the ST and their TT equivalent words, as well as of their TL one-to-one equivalents, and determining the reasons why a particular TL equivalent word has been chosen, componential analysis can be more easily understood and put forth by students. Being part of a larger bilingual corpus-based research study concerned with investigating translation procedures in the official Romanian translations of the English EU legal documents, this paper also provides a quantitative approach as regards the frequency of occurrence of componential analysis as translation procedure in comparison with those of the other translation procedures that were identified and analyzed in the extended research study. The article presents contextual analysis of the artistic ideas of Romanian composer Aurel Stroe within the conflict of the global and Romanian composition scene from 1960 to 1990. It traces Stroe's stages of composition and discusses his ideas within different doctrines of new music. It also analyzes the interferences of the sciences, morphogenesis, catastrophe theory, politics and culture to Stroe's musical ideas in order to appreciate his importance in his musical generation.
