The article present an examination of Russia's role in contributing to energy security amidst the globalization of the post-Soviet period. It discusses how Russia's geopolitical position contributes to its prominence in the global energy security question and discusses how Russia must take a careful approach to maintaining its power in neighboring countries and their energy sectors. It discusses the importance of a soft-power approach to foreign diplomacy in the post-Soviet era and discusses the role that Russia's nuclear power industry plays in the country's economy.
