Climate warming in high latitudes impacts CO2 sequestration of the northern peatlands through the changes in production and decomposition processes. The response of the net CO2 fluxes between ecosystems and the atmosphere to climate change and weather anomalies can vary across forest and non-forest peatlands. To better understand the differences in CO2 dynamics at forest and non-forest boreal peatlands induced by changes in environmental conditions, the estimates of interannual variability in the net ecosystem exchange (NEE), total ecosystem respiration (TER), and gross primary production (GPP) was obtained at two widespread peatland ecosystems – paludified spruce forest and the adjacent ombrotrophic bog in the southern taiga of west Russia using 6 years of paired eddy covariance flux measurements. Both positive and negative annual and growing season air temperature and precipitation anomalies were observed in the period of measurement (2015–2020). Flux measurements showed that, in spite of the lower growing season TER (332±17 ... 339±15 gC m -2) and GPP (442±13 ... 464± 11 gC m -2) rates, the bog had a higher CO2 uptake rates (NEE was -132±11 ... -108±6) than the forest, except for the warmest and the wettest year of the period (2020), and was an atmospheric CO2 sink in the selected years, while the forest was a CO2 sink or source, depending on the environmental conditions. Growing season NEE at the forest site was between -142±48 and 28±40 gC m -2 , TER between 1135±64 and 1366±58 gC m -2 , and GPP between 1207±66 and 1462±107 gC m -2. Annual NEE at the forest was between -62±49 and 145±41 gC m -2 , TER between 1429±87 and 1652±44 C m -2 , and GPP between 1345±89 and 1566±41 gC m -2 , respectively. Under the anomalously warm winter conditions with sparse and thin snow cover (2019/2020), the increased daily GPP, TER, and net CO2 uptake at the forest was observed, while at the bog, the changes in CO2 fluxes between the warm and cold winters were not significant. The issue of tillage is one of the most important in agricultural farming since it directly affects the quality of crops. Therefore, this paper presents the materials of scientific research on the change in the parameters of the water properties of the alluvial soil depending on the influence of the aftereffect of the methods and the depth of the primary cultivation. The research was conducted at the production fields of the Teplichnoye JSC in the Oktyabrsky District (Republic of Mordovia, Russia) during 2018 to 2020. The main method of the study is a field one-factor experiment in triplicate. It was found that deep plowing in the second year of aftereffect improved the water properties of the subsurface soil horizon; namely, the total, capillary, and minimal moisture capacity had increased compared to traditional plowing. Subsoiling reduced the reserves of productive soil moisture before the growing season of spring wheat and increased its water consumption since in those variants the plants used moisture at a lower rate. The minimum water consumption was observed in the variants with moldboard plowing at depths of 26-28 and 32-34 cm, and the maximum water consumption was noted after subsoiling and plowing to a depth of 20-22 cm. Concerning the conditions of this region, the study has substantiated the most effective combination of depth and method of tillage and their influence on the water properties of the soil in the aftereffect. There is a lot of data on the influence of different cultivation methods on the hydrophysical properties of soils, but the preservation of their effect for subsequent years has practically not been studied. Cattle provide valuable food and raw materials for various types of industry, which is why the successful development of breeding of this type of farm animal plays an important role for the economy of the Russian Federation. Unfortunately, calves, due to stressful conditions and improper maintenance, feeding and exploitation of pregnant cows, are susceptible to diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Colibacteriosis is one of the main causes of loss of productivity and mortality of young cattle. Therefore, the study ofmethods for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this disease is an urgent problem of veterinary medicine. This article examines the clinical and pathological methods of studying calves with intrauterine colibacteriosis. The results are presented in the form of photographs of pathomorphological changes in organs and tissues with a list of eleven pathological diagnoses inherent in escherichiosis, such as dehydration, exhaustion and anemia; hemorrhagic diathesis; acute serous lymphadenitis; acute serous splenitis (septic spleen); fatty degeneration and hemorrhages in the liver; acute catarrhal bronchopneumonia, mainly of the apical and cardiac lobes; hyperemia and hemorrhage under the epi- and endocardium; acute alterative myocarditis; acute catarrhal or hemorrhagic gastroenterocolitis; hemorrhagic or acute catarrhal with banded hemorrhage proctitis; and acute serous nephritis. For the study, we selected 16 calves of Holstein-Friesian and Brown Schwyz breed from the age of newborns to two weeks of age with symptoms of toxic dyspepsia. An interview with Mikhail Pashkin, chairman of the Coordination Council of the Trade Union of Moscow Militia Officers in Russia, is presented. He says that the recertifiction of militia officers will be made in a single day. He emphasizes that each of the officers scheduled for recertification has to be questioned by a special commission. He stresses the need of for obedient generals and those who will uphold the interests of the authorities.

Objective: To study burnout of Russian physicians in the conditions of COVID-19 pandemic and how their work with coronavirus-infected patients influenced it. According to a three-factor model of burnout developed by Maslach and Jackson, this syndrome includes emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduction of personal accomplishment. Design: A cross-sectional survey study. Setting: Large medical practice. Participants: Physicians of different specialties. Methods: Data collection was conducted from June 23 to July 12, 2020. We developed a Google form including a questionnaire and psychological inventories and placed it in a medical portal. Maslach Burnout Inventory -- Human Services Survey for Medical Personnel was used to study burnout; the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale was used to determine anxiety and depression. Results: Of all the physicians who took part in the study (N = 599), 31.2 % worked with coronavirus-infected patients. Of the medical personnel who treated COVID-19 patients, 63.6% noted increased workload during the pandemic. Compared to other physicians, they more often had a high degree of emotional exhaustion (43.3 % vs 33.0 %, φ* = 2.404, P ≤ 0.01) and depersonalization (41.7 % vs 34, 0%, φ* = 1.803, P ≤ 0.05). An overwhelming majority of physicians, without any dependence on work with infected patients, had an absence of anxiety and depression. The identified interrelations between the symptoms of burnout, anxiety, depression; age and career stage in medical personnel were identical, except for weak correlations between age and emotional exhaustion (rs = -0.097, P ≤ 0.05), as well as career stage and personal accomplishment (rs = 0.102, P ≤ 0.05) in those physicians who worked with COVID-19 patients. The structure of burnout was identical in all physicians and did not depend on interaction with the infected patients. Conclusion: Public health authorities should reduce the workload on physicians involved in treating infected patients against the backdrop of the pandemic. Psychotherapeutic measures focused on preventing burnout should reduce its number among physicians interacting with patients infected with the coronavirus. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is one of the primary causes of death of infants in the first year of life. According to the WHO's data, the global infant mortality rate is 0.64-2 per 1,000 live-born children. Molecular and cellular aspects of SIDS development have not been identified so far. The purpose of this paper is to verify and analyze the expression of melatonin 1 and 2 receptors, serotonin (as a melatonin precursor), and CD34 molecules (as hematopoietic and endothelial markers of cardiovascular damage) in the medulla, heart, and aorta in infants who died from SIDS. An immunohistochemical method was used to investigate samples of medulla, heart, and aorta tissues of infants 3 to 9 months of age who died from SIDS. The control group included children who died from accidents. It has been shown that the expression of melatonin receptors as well as serotonin and CD34 angiogenesis markers in tissues of the medulla, heart, and aorta of infants who died from SIDS is statistically lower as compared with their expression in the same tissues in children who died from accidents. The obtained data help to clarify in detail the role of melatonin and such signaling molecules as serotonin and CD34 in SIDS pathogenesis, which can open new prospects for devising novel methods for predictive diagnosis of development and targeted prophylaxis of SIDS., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist.

Antibiotic overuse in infants is associated with an increased risk of serious adverse events. Development of antibiotic stewardship programs aimed at reducing overall antibiotic consumption requires epidemiological surveillance. Retrospective surveillance and evaluation of all antibiotics provided to every infant admitted to maternal wards or neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) from 01 January 2014 to 31 December 2014 were performed in five medical centers of Saint Petersburg, Russia. Types of antibiotics and dates of administration were recorded. Antibiotic use was quantified by length of therapy (length of therapy, LOT, per 1000 patient-days, PD) and days of therapy (DOT/1000 PD). An additional parameter named "instant DOT/1000 PD" was introduced by authors for assessment of longitudinal patterns of administrations. Antibiotic load was 825.6 DOT/1000 PD in maternity wards and 1425.8 DOT/1000 PD in the NICUs. These levels are two to four times higher than DOTs reported in the USA for a level III NICU (348 DOT/1000PD). Antibiotic load was associated with the length of hospital stay (LOS) and birth weight. These associations were distorted when assessed using the conventional parameters, LOT and DOT, because they do not reflect the longitudinal component of treatment and underestimate antibiotic load when a patient stays in hospital without treatment. The proposed additional parameter successfully overcame these flaws and uncovered hidden associations. Severe overuse of antibiotics may be taking place in Russia and antibiotic stewardship development should be urged. Instant DOT/1000 PD is a more powerful tool in assessing treatment patterns than DOT/1000 PD.
