The article discusses robots which could be used to work in the Sahara Desert and Antarctica. The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing, Engineering, and Automation is developing the Industrial Parallel Kinematics device (IPAnema) to construct a solar farm in the Sahara, while the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and its contractor Raytheon Polar Services developed robotic vehicles to bring fuel from McMurdo Station to the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica.
