The BL17B beamline at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility was first designed as a versatile high‐throughput protein crystallography beamline and one of five beamlines affiliated to the National Facility for Protein Science in Shanghai. It was officially opened to users in July 2015. As a bending magnet beamline, BL17B has the advantages of high photon flux, brightness, energy resolution and continuous adjustable energy between 5 and 23 keV. The experimental station excels in crystal screening and structure determination, providing cost‐effective routine experimental services to numerous users. Given the interdisciplinary and green energy research demands, BL17B beamline has undergone optimization, expanded its range of experimental methods and enhanced sample environments for a more user‐friendly testing mode. These methods include single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, powder crystal X‐ray diffraction, wide‐angle X‐ray scattering, grazing‐incidence wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (GIWAXS), and fully scattered atom pair distribution function analysis, covering structure detection from crystalline to amorphous states. This paper primarily presents the performance of the BL17B beamline and the application of the GIWAXS methodology at the beamline in the field of perovskite materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Benefiting from the development of high‐brilliance synchrotron radiation sources, microbeam X‐ray scattering has become a well established scattering‐based imaging technology. This article describes the newly constructed time‐resolved microbeam small‐angle X‐ray scattering (µSAXS) experimental station at the BL10U1 beamline at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. The µSAXS endstation provides SAXS/WAXS measurements with a 10 µm hard X‐ray beam and a flux of ∼1012 photons s−1. A multi‐axis sample stage, an on‐axis viewer and in situ experimental apparatus are incorporated to facilitate multi‐method scientific experiments in various material fields. As scientific examples, this article explores 1D tomography, 2D mapping and tomographic sectioning based on X‐ray scattering to investigate the micro–nanostructures of polymer fiber, spherulite and bamboo samples. Basing on the slant Compton scattering of 10640 nm photons from a 100 W CO 2 laser on 3.5 GeV electrons from the Shanghai Light Source, the Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source (SLEGS) produces gamma-ray in the energy range of 0.66 MeV–21.7 MeV and flux of 105–107 photons/s. A Gamma Modulation System (GMS) composed of the collimators, attenuator, beam spot imaging(MiniPIX) and flux monitor(LaBr 3 detector) was developed to ensure producing bandwidth-variable quasi-monochromatic gamma-ray with a variable-flux at same time. Using the GMS, variable-flux quasi-monochromatic gamma-ray beams with a best bandwidth of 10% in the 90 ∘ slant-scattering and 4% in back-scattering were obtained respectively. We report on the performance of the GMS and results of gamma-ray beam modulating measurement with GMS at SLEGS. • SLEGS is a medium energy resolution slant-scattering beamline. • This article provides beam parameters for users on SLEGS. • The Gamma Modulation System(GMS) is effective in modulating gamma-ray beams. • Using the GMS, 4%–10% energy resolution can be obtained. • Flux of 105-107 photons/s can be obtained with 5 W laser power. The BL02B bending‐magnet beamline at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) has been constructed and is now operational for ambient‐pressure photoelectron spectroscopy (APPES) and photon‐in/photon‐out spectroscopy (PIPOS) experimental use. Optical optimization was implemented for realization of high performance, e.g. photon flux, energy‐resolving power and focus spot size. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy experiments show that the energy range extends from 40 to 2000 eV. Argon, nitrogen and neon gas core‐shell excitation spectra indicate energy‐resolving powers of over 1.4 × 104 @ 244 eV, 1.0 × 104 @ 401 eV and 7.0 × 103 @ 867 eV, respectively. The measured photon flux is 1.3 × 1011 photons s−1 @ E/ΔE = 3700 at 244 eV at the expected sample position, for the SSRF electron energy of 3.5 GeV and electron current of 240 mA. The spot sizes are 177 µm × 23 µm and 150 µm × 46 µm at the APPES and PIPOS samples, respectively. A new photon-in/photon-out endstation at beamline 02B02 of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility for studying the electronic structure of energy materials has been constructed and fully opened to users. The endstation has the capability to perform soft x-ray absorption spectroscopy in total electron yield and total fluorescence yield modes simultaneously. The photon energy ranges from 40 eV to 2000 eV covering the K-edge of most low Z-elements and the L-edge of 3d transition-metals. The new self-designed channeltron detector allows us to achieve good fluorescence signals at the low photon flux. In addition, we synchronously collect the signals of a standard reference sample and a gold mesh on the upstream to calibrate the photon energy and monitor the beam fluctuation, respectively. In order to cross the pressure gap, in situ gas and liquid cells for soft x-ray absorption spectroscopy are developed to study the samples under realistic working conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
