Abstract

A recent report from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China discusses the potential use of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) as a noninvasive treatment for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that causes the progressive loss of motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. The study found that LIPUS treatment delayed disease onset and prolonged lifespan in ALS mice by increasing cerebral blood flow, reducing neuroinflammation, and preserving vascular endothelial cell integrity. Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine investigated the clinical efficacy of the traditional Chinese medicine Bu-Shen-Jian-Pi (BSJP) in the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The study utilized network pharmacology analysis and artificial intelligence to optimize the evaluation of the herbal medicine. The study involved a randomized multi-center, controlled clinical trial with 127 ALS patients. The results showed that the BSJP group had significant improvements in ALS symptom scores, muscle strength, and forced vital capacity compared to the control group.
