Abstract

This article looks at issues concerning democratic memory and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in South Africa. The most noteworthy and ambitious attempt to democratize memory for the sake of democratizing political possibility is represented by TRC. To search for the truth about apartheid-era atrocities, the commission's goal focused on the reconciliation of enemies through a politics of memory that is capable of reconciling the present with the past for the sake of future.
