The article discusses the highlights of an International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) workshop on nursing homes. One of the paper presented in the workshop focused on the state of nursing homes within long-term care in Catalonia, Spain. The event also addressed the challenges posed by the increasing elderly population in China, as well as the occupancy rate in Chinese nursing homes. Another topic addressed in the workshop was chronic pain in long-term care facilities.
