Moral elevation refers to the positive emotional response resulting from witnessing acts of virtue or moral beauty. While the evidence demonstrates that experiencing elevation has a positive effect on people's prosocial behavior, an intriguing question is whether this emotion also affects social-cognitive processes involved in the perception of others' behavior. The present research aims to study whether this elevation affects the causal attributions people make about the behavior of others. The results of three studies (total N = 267 adults from Spain; 79.03% women) show that a) elevation trait correlates with internal causal attributions about others' behavior, b) experimental manipulation of elevation affects causal attributions about others' behavior, and c) experimental manipulation of elevation can reduce correspondence bias (fundamental attributional error). In many regular banking transactions, it is not surprising that occasional service failure is inevitable despite tremendous effort for zero-defect service delivery. Consequently, the outcome of service failure can be disastrous for the banks' short- and long-term existence. As a result, this study investigated the impact of service recovery justice (DJ, PJ, and IJ) on consumers' emotions (positive (PEM), and negative (NEM)) and post-recovery satisfaction (PRS), word of mouth (WOM) in the banking industry of Spain. Additionally, this study examined the mediating role of PEM and NEM between (DJ, PJ, and IJ) and PRS. The study collected data from 500 customers of Spanish banks using an online questionnaire. The analysis was performed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) approach. The results indicate that (DJ, PJ, and IJ) positively influence PEM. Moreover, DJ negatively impacts NEM. However, PJ and IJ have no significant effect on NEM. Besides, PEM is shown to positively affect PRS, while NEM negatively impacts PRS. Additionally, PRS is positively influencing WOM. Furthermore (DJ, PJ, and IJ) indirectly impact PRS through PEM. Only DJ indirectly impacts PRS through NEM. The findings have significant implications for theory and practice, offering vital insights for creating effective policies and regulations in the Spanish banking industry to improve customer satisfaction and emotional responses to service failures. In recent years, assumptions about the existence of a single construct of happiness that accounts for all positive emotions have been questioned. Instead, several discrete positive emotions with their own neurobiological and psychological mechanisms have been proposed. Of note, the effects of positive emotions on language processing are not yet properly understood. Here we provide a database for a large set of 9000 Spanish words scored by 3437 participants in the positive emotions of awe, contentment, amusement, excitement, serenity, relief, and pleasure. We also report significant correlations between discrete positive emotions and several affective (e.g., valence, arousal, happiness, negative discrete emotions) and lexico-semantic (e.g., frequency of use, familiarity, concreteness, age of acquisition) characteristics of words. Finally, we analyze differences between words conveying a single emotion ("pure" emotion words) and those denoting more than one emotion ("mixed" emotion words). This study will provide researchers a rich source of information to do research that contributes to expanding the current knowledge on the role of positive emotions in language. Moroccans are still the lowest rated immigrants in Spain. This research analyses the relationships between different dimensions of stereotypes (i.e., morality, sociability, and competence), positive emotions, and facilitation behavioural tendencies between Spaniards and Moroccans. Specifically, this work aims to explore whether the three stereotype dimensions play distinct roles in predicting helping behavioural tendencies through emotions, with a focus on the distinctive role of morality. Three studies are presented. In Study 1, Spanish adolescents assessed Moroccan immigrants. Study 2 considered the minority perspective by analysing Moroccans' stereotypes, emotions, and behavioural tendencies toward Spaniards. Study 3 experimentally tested the effect of the stereotype dimensions on positive emotions and facilitation behavioural tendencies in a sample of Spaniards. The results showed a consistent pattern: perceived morality always indirectly predicted facilitation behavioural tendencies through positive emotions, regardless of the perspective analysed (i.e., majority/minority), age of participants (i.e., adults/adolescents), or design (i.e., correlational/experimental). The psychosocial processes involved in the acculturation preferences of immigrants are important to understand intercultural relationships in multicultural contexts. This work analyzes how three stereotype dimensions and positive emotions are related to the acculturation preferences of Ecuadorians living in Spain. A sample of 92 Ecuadorians (53.3% female; Mage = 31.58 years) answered to a questionnaire expressing how moral, sociable and competent they perceived Spanish people were, to what extent they felt positive emotions towards Spanish people, and their own acculturation preferences regarding maintenance of their original culture and adoption of the Spanish culture. Results show that the way Ecuadorians perceive Spanish people (especially regarding their morality and competence) predicts their preference for adopting Spanish customs through positive emotions. Terrorist attacks have been related to the onset of several mental disorders. These events may also trigger positive psychological consequences in some individuals. In this research, we collected data several weeks after the 11 March 2004 Madrid terrorist attacks. We evaluated perceived benefits as well as a broad range of positive and negative emotions. All positive emotion factors (Strength, Excitement, Pride, and Joy) were positively associated with perceived benefits. Of negative emotion factors (Distress, Hate, and Shame), only Hate was related, negatively, to perceived benefits. These results highlight the important role of positive emotions in the research of perceived benefits as well as the wide array of positive and negative emotions that can be elicited after a terrorist attack.
