TRAINING of college teachers , *UNIVERSITIES & colleges , *CONTINUOUS improvement process , *DESCRIPTIVE statistics , *QUESTIONNAIRES , *COMPARATIVE studies - Abstract
The introduction and adaptation of European Higher Education Area (EHEA) has generated an increase in the interest towards studies about the analysis of teaching qualification needs for university teachers to improve the planning and development of continuous training. This study aims to explore and describe the academic needs perceived by the USC teaching staff. To attain that goal, a descriptive-type investigation has been carried out, using a questionnaire that gathers information focusing on three main characteristics: identification data; educational needs expressed by the teaching staff concerning different features and planning of the training offered. The sample consists of 301 teachers of different knowledge areas of the USC. The statistical analyses are of both the descriptive and comparative type. The obtained results allow the introduction of improvement elements in the design and planning of training for the university teachers. In this sense, the findings point to the development of strategic action lines, contextualized and interrelated with professional practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TELEVISION & children , *TELEVISION broadcasting , *INTERNET & children , *TELEVISION stations , *CHILDREN'S television programs , *MEDIA literacy - Abstract
This paper describes the main contributions of the TV broadcasters in Spain to the study of the relationships between television and childhood. It is justified by the need of compile and organise these contributions. Quality contents broadcasted for children, children consumption of television and the role of TV channels to transfer a positive image of the childhood have been the mainstays of this text. The information that we report is the result of the study carried out from Observatorio Comunicación y Sociedad. Methodologically, consulting scientific bibliography about television and childhood has made possible to put our study into context. After that, the use of questionnaire to people responsible of contents broadcasted for children by the main Spanish TV channels, and the analysis of the different experiences and work papers prepared by televisions, have allowed to create a setting with the broadcasters' main contributions to a new paradigm which improves the relationship between minors and television. The conclusion from the analysis and the consultation to experts point that, except in the case of the public state television and some regional televisions, the research and the redesign of the childhood/television relationship is not one of the channels priorities. In fact, only TVE has an important scientific production in this field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

RADIO broadcasting , *RADIO programs , *EMIGRATION & immigration , *MULTICULTURALISM - Abstract
The Spanish social daily context has evolved during the last few years into a multicultural society, but these 'new citizens' are very poorly represented on public media. They rarely become protagonists of any piece of news and when they do, the limitations faced by the news broadcasting tend to stereotyped discourses. Romania leads the ranking of immigration by country of origin in Spain and there are numerous ethnic media. Along with these specific media, there are other multicultural channels, which allow the voice of the immigrants be heard, plus they deal with the different identities in a deeper manner, easing the integration and coexistence. Having in mind the hypothesis that the participation of the Romanians in radio programs turns to be insufficient, as well as contents referring to this ethnic group, the aim of this research is to carry out a radio consumption analysis on a longitudinal basis, the form of participation of Romanians in radio programs and their image, derived from content approach. Therefore, four programs are analyzed: 'Nuevos Ciudadanos' (Punto Radio), 'Otros Acentos' (Radio Exterior de RNE), 'Rumano en el Mundo' (Radio Tentación) y 'Buenas Tardes Rumania' (Integración Radio). According to the debate and conclusions, a low consumption of news radio broadcasting is observed and the predominant forms of participation are mainly two: those regarding legal queries and musical dedications, specially on ethnic stations as a way to reinforce their identity nature. Furthermore, since the labour law moratorium lifted for Romanians and Bulgarians in January 2009 and the implementation of free movement of these workers, the content regarding this ethnic group on programs above mentioned has decreased. - Abstract
Objective: The objective of the study was to determine the trend of variables related to tuberculosis (TB) from the Integrated Tuberculosis Research Program (PII-TB) registry of the Spanish Society of Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR), and to evaluate the PII-TB according to indicators related to its scientific objectives., Method: Cross-sectional, population-based, multicenter study of new TB cases prospectively registered in the PII-TB between 2006 and 2016. The time trend of quantitative variables was calculated using a lineal regression model, and qualitative variables using the χy test for lineal trend., Results: A total of 6,892 cases with an annual median of 531 were analyzed. Overall, a significant downward trend was observed in women, immigrants, prisoners, and patients initially treated with 3 drugs. Significant upward trends were observed in patients aged 40-50 and > 50 years, first visit conducted by a specialist, hospitalization, diagnostic delay, disseminated disease and single extrapulmonary location, culture(+), sensitivity testing performed, drug resistance, directly observed treatment, prolonged treatment, and death from another cause. The scientific objectives of the PII-TB that showed a significant upward trend were publications, which reached a maximum of 8 in 2016 with a total impact factor of 49,664, numbers of projects initiated annually, presentations at conferences, and theses., Conclusions: PII-TB provides relevant information on TB and its associated factors in Spain. A large team of researchers has been created; some scientific aspects of the registry were positive, while others could have been improved., (Copyright © 2019 SEPAR.
