Abstract: We study doubly charmed exotic states by solving the scattering problem of two D mesons. Our results point to the existence of a stable isoscalar doubly charmed meson with quantum numbers . We perform a thorough comparison to the results obtained within the hyperspherical harmonic formalism. Such exotic states could be measured at LHC and RHIC. Their experimental observation would, for the first time, confirm the contribution of multiquark structures to hadron spectroscopy. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The ISOLDE facility [1-3] is one of the world-leading laboratories for the production and investigation of radioactive nuclei. ISOLDE belongs to CERN's accelerator complex situated on the border between Switzerland and France (Figure 1). The facility has been in operation since its start in 1967 and is presently receiving protons from the Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB) of CERN. The success of ISOLDE is due to the continuous development of new radioactive ion beams and improvement of the experimental conditions. With the upcoming high energy and intensity upgrade HIE-ISOLDE the possibilities for experiments with exotic nuclei will be further boosted. This laboratory portrait gives an overview of the present facility that will focus on the status of radioactive ion beam production, the operation of ISOLDE, and the main experimental equipment rather than aiming at a comprehensive summary of physics results. Abstract: We classify all possible new multiplets that can couple to pairs of SM particles. Assuming that production of such new particles is dominated by their gauge interactions we study their signals at LHC, finding the following five main classes: (i) lepto-quark signals; (ii) di-lepton 4ℓ signals; (iii) di-quarks 4j signals, (iv) heavy-lepton signals and (v) heavy quarks signals, where V denotes heavy SM vectors (with W being associated to exotic fermions). In each case we outline the most promising final states, the SM backgrounds and propose the needed searches. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Precision experiments at low energies probing weak interaction are a very promising and complementary tool for investigating the structure of the electro-weak sector of the standard model, and for searching for new phenomena revealing signs for an underlaying new symmetry. With the advent of new technologies in particle trapping and production of beams for exotic nuclei as well as ultracold neutrons, we expect one or two orders of magnitude gain in precision. This corresponds to the progress expected by new high luminosity B-factories or the LHC. Domains studied are β-decays where decay correlations, partial or total decay rates may reveal the nature of the left-right structure of the interaction and the investigation of discrete symmetries. Here the search for a finite electric dipole moment which, due to its CP-violating nature were sensational by itself, could shed light on the structure of the vacuum at very small distances. Last but not least ideas of a mirror world can be extended to the sector of baryons which can be studied with neutrons. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
