Abstract

The article focuses on the study conducted in Geneva, Switzerland regarding the development of rigid oligonaphthalenediimide rods as transmembrane anion. The authors discuss the design, synthesis and evaluation of oligonaphthalenediimide rods that can transport anions across lipid bilayer membranes. Moreover, they talk about the strategies to design synthetic anion channels beyond ion pairing and hydrogen bonding.
