Background: While the treatment guidelines have been established for pure urothelial carcinoma (pUC), patients with variant type urothelial carcinoma (vUC) face limited effective treatment options. The effectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) in patients with vUC remains uncertain and necessitates additional research. Method: We conducted a retrospective, multicenter study to explore the effectiveness of ICI in patients with pUC or vUC in Taiwan. We evaluated the overall response rate (ORR) through univariate logistic regression analysis and examined the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Additionally, we employed univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards models to analyze the data. Result: A total of 142 patients (116 pUC, 26 vUC) were included in our final analysis. The ORR was marginally higher in patients with pUC compared to those with vUC (34.5% vs. 23.1%, p = 0.26). Among all patients, 12.9% with pUC achieved a complete response (CR) after ICI treatment, while no vUC cases achieved CR (p = 0.05). There were no significant differences in PFS (median 3.6 months vs. 4.1 months, p = 0.34) or OS (median 16.3 months vs. 11.0 months, p = 0.24) when comparing patients with pUC or vUC. In the subgroup analysis, patients with pUC who underwent first-line ICI treatment exhibited significantly improved OS compared to those with vUC (24.6 months vs. 9.1 months, p = 0.004). Independence–unification (IU) views have been profoundly influential in Taiwan politics. This study uses the rally 'round the flag effect to explain the increase in support for Taiwan independence after President Tsai Ing-wen rejected China's 'one country, two systems' proposal. Taking advantage of within-individual differences in panel data, we can estimate the probability of IU views given a set of certain characteristics compared with other values of those characteristics and ascertain the influence of change in variables such as approval of the president's handling cross-Strait relations at different time points. Our preliminary results show that Taiwanese people indeed change their IU views due to the external and domestic environment. People who perceive that the economy has improved and whose views on President Tsai have become more favorable tend to flock towards the independence side. People whose views of President Tsai's handling of cross-Strait relations have become more favorable also move towards independence. If we only consider differences between individuals, feelings about the KMT and DPP stand out as significant predictors of IU views. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the semiconductor industry, the testing section has always played an important role. The testing section often requires engineers to judge the defect, which wastes a lot of time and cost. The accurate classification can provide useful information for engineers through neural networks. In this paper, we present a method for wafer map data augmentation and defect classification. Data augmentation is based on CNN encoder-decoder and the classification is based on depthwise separable convolutions. There are two datasets used, one is open dataset WM-811K and the other is built with a Taiwan company. We train two models with mobilenetV1 and V2 for the different datasets. The light-weight deep convolution can reduce model parameters and calculations, which is very efficient for the testing house with large production volumes. On two different data sets, our proposed method can reduce the number of parameters by 30% and 95%, and reduce the amount of calculation by 75% and 25%, respectively. The test accuracy of the first dataset is 93.95%. The second dataset test accuracy is 87.04%. After the data augmentation, accuracy is increased to 97.01% and 95.09%, respectively. In this article, we examine how antipartyism influences the public's preferences for the tools of presidential power by focusing on the case of Taiwan, which is a president-parliamentary system. We distinguish two types of antipartyism: general antipartyism and reactive antipartyism. The former refers to the general perception of political parties, whereas the latter involves the functions of parties in modern democracy. According to the analysis results, we find that general antipartyism is positively associated with support for the president's power to unilaterally appoint judges. In contrast, reactive antipartyism leads to less support for executive privilege, unilateral judicial appointments, and the authority to direct agency implementation of policies passed by the legislature. Background: Although the literature documents low executive functions and sleep deficits in individuals with autism spectrum disorder or subclinical autistic traits, no study has simultaneously examined their relationships in the general child population. This study aimed to examine whether autistic traits impacted real-world executive functions through insufficient sleep in a nationally representative sample of children., Methods: This was a national survey of 6832 primary and secondary school students, aged 8-14 years old, with equal sex distribution (3479 boys, 50.8%). Parents reported their child's nocturnal sleep duration and the need for sleep to maintain their daytime function and the Social Responsiveness Scale and the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF) for their children's autistic traits and real-world executive functions, respectively., Results: We found that autistic traits exerted indirect effects on real-world executive functions through sleep deficits, independent of sex, and age. Moreover, such an indirect effect was observed only from restricted and repetitive behaviors to executive functions through sleep deficits, but not in the other components of autistic traits (i.e. social communication and interaction)., Conclusions: Our novel findings underscore the importance of sleep and autistic traits in executive functions and suggest potential mechanisms that may underlie the observed correlational structure among autistic behaviors, sleep deficits, and low executive function performance.

Background: Venomous snakebites are common during hot seasons in Taiwan. However, rarely is venom spat directly into the subject's eyes, causing eye injury. Despite being uncommon, analytical data regarding venom-spit ophthalmia in Taiwan have been lacking. This study thus aimed to conduct an epidemiological survey on Naja atra venom-spit ophthalmia in Taiwan during the past decades to improve future care of such patients., Methods: Registered records of cases with snake venom injuries at the Taiwan National Poison Control Center from 1990 to 2016 were retrospectively reviewed, enrolling those with records of cobra venom-spit eye injuries and excluding exotic species. Demographic data, clinical symptoms, snake species, ocular conditions, management, and outcomes were recorded and analyzed., Results: A total of 39 cases suffering from Naja atra venom-spit ophthalmia were enrolled. The overall incidence rate was 1.6 cases per million people from 1990 to 2016. Among the included cases, most were unilaterally injured (82%), male (95%), aged 18 to 59 years (90%), injured during catching (51%), and injured in spring and summer (92%). Ocular symptoms occurred in 90% of the cases, majority of which included ocular pain (90%) and redness (85%). Conjunctivitis (67%) and corneal injury (59%) of involved eyes were common. Immediate water irrigations were done in all cases, most of whom received further topical eye drops, including antibiotics, corticosteroids, and vasoconstrictors. Although topical or intravenous antivenoms were administered in 11 cases, no obviously superior outcome was observed. Most cases (77%) were symptom free after the acute stage., Conclusion: Although Naja atra venom-spit ophthalmia in Taiwan is uncommon, the risk for transient ocular symptoms and corneal/conjunctival injury does exists. Prompt ocular irrigation and professional ophthalmic care after envenomation help prevent serious ocular sequelae. Moreover, superior outcomes were not achieved with the use of antivenom. Nonetheless, further studies are required to clarify the role antivenoms play in venom-spit ophthalmia.
