Abstract

The article focuses on a study conducted in order to describe three new species of shoot fly, Atherigona Rondani (A. Rondani) from northern Thailand on the basis of morphological characteristics of males. It discusses the identification of three new Atherigona species namely A. komi, A. chiangmaiensis and A. thailandica. It further discusses the unique features of A. komi that is characterised by a distinct spiral groove on the dorsal aspect of the fore femur and two dark apical wing spots.
