Tibetans are considered an East Asian ethnic group and primarily live in the high Tibetan plateau, the western Sichuan and Yunnan mountains of central and southern China, and areas throughout the Himalayas and around the Tibetan plateau. These people exhibit rare molecular machinery that allows them to adapt to hypoxic environments in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and make them a potential candidate for providing insights related to medical genetic, molecular medicine and human population studies. In the current study, we have genotyped 549 individuals with Investigator Argus X-12 Kit. For 12 X-STRs, a total of 174 unique alleles were found, among them DXS10134 and DXS10135 were the most polymorphic loci. All of the loci were in Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium (HWE). The numbers of observed haplotypes in Highlander Tibetans males were 161,112, 96 and 108, respectively, whereas haplotype diversities (HD) were 0.9959, 0.9880, 0.9809 and 0.9873, respectively. The combined discrimination power for males (PDm) was 0.999 999 99701 and for females (PDf) was 0.999 999 999 999 9958. Schisdilactones K-U (1-11), a series of previously unreported 16,17-secopreschisanartane-type schinortriterpenoids (SNTs), were isolated from the leaves and stems of Schisandra neglecta A. C. Smith. Their structures were mainly established through analysis of their spectroscopic data. Besides, schisdilactones K (1), O (5) and R (8) were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis, and the configurations of schisdilactones T and U (10 and 11) were elucidated via quantum chemical calculation of their NMR chemical shifts and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra. Schisdilactones L-S (2-8) and U (11) were found to exhibit moderate protective activities against corticosterone-induced apoptosis of PC12 cells at 20 μM, with cell viability in the range of 62.95-66.97%., (Copyright © 2021 Elsevier Inc. Background: The sequence polymorphisms of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) are valuable in forensic medicine and anthropological genetics., Aim: We analysed the sequences of the mtDNA control region in 207 unrelated Tibetan individuals from the Naqu region, Tibet Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China, and investigated the population structure of the region by population comparison with other groups., Subjects and Methods: Genomic DNA was extracted and hypervariable regions (HVS-I and HVS-II) were amplified and sequenced. Subsequently, sequences were aligned and compared with the revised Cambridge sequence. Moreover, population comparison was performed between the Naqu Tibetan group and the other groups., Conclusion: Our study provided available data for exploring the mtDNA haplotype of the Tibetan population in the Naqu region, and population comparisons found that the Naqu Tibetan population has its own unique structure.

Three new nortriterpenoids, schigrandilactones A-C (1-3), along with eight known compounds, were isolated from an organic solvent extract of Schisandra grandiflora. Compounds 1 and 2 feature a spirocyclic moiety in their structures, and compound 3 was characterized with a new oxygenated pattern. The relative configurations of 1 and 3 were determined through single-crystal X-ray experiments. In addition, compounds 1 and 2 displayed cytotoxic activity against two human cancer cell lines, and compound 3 showed anti-HIV-1 inhibition in infected C8166 cells.
