To figure out current landscaping of Linzhi City, analyze the basic situation of local landscaping quantitatively, and solve related problems in landscaping, this paper applied the "five-point sampling method" for the layered survey of landscape plant communities, investigated landscape plant species and their application in different regions of Tibet, particularly current landscaping, features and problems of Linzhi City, and put forward corresponding measures. The investigation covered 321 species (cultivars) of 196 genera, 87 families. The results showed that (1) Salix alga, Ligustrum x vicaryi, Poa pratensis had the highest importance value in the tree layer, shrub layer and herb layer, respectively, and the Importance value was 68.620, 24.139 and 35.747, respectively (2) Among all landscape plants in Linzhi City, the most applied families were Rosaceae (48), Salicaceae (21), Asteraceae (20), Leguminosae (20), Gramineae (19), Pinaceae (16), Cupressaceae (13) and Oleaceae (12), accounting for 14.95%, 6.54%, 6.23%, 6.23%, 5.92%, 4.98%, 4.05% and 3.73% of the total investigated species. (3) Natural environment of the plateau was the most influential restraint for local landscaping, and the application of landscape plants varied greatly among regions. To study the basic situation of application of local landscape plants in Tibet, local landscape plants in Tibet was investigated firstly by using "biological five-point method". The results show that 213 species (including breed) of local landscape plants were applied in Tibet, belonging to 148 genera and 66 families. In the arbor layer; shrub layer and herbaceous layer, the importance of Picca ltiriangensis Pritz. var. likiangensis Cheng et L. K. Fu, Platycladus orientalis Franco cv: Sieboldii, and Poa patensis L. were the highest, namely 43.050,19.696 and 45.950. Rosaceae, Salicaceae, Fabaceae, Poaceae, Pinaceae, Asteraceae, and Cupressaceae were applied mostly, including 25,16,12,11,10,9 and 8 species of plants, accounting for 11.73%, 7.51%, 5.63%, 5.16%, 4.69%, 423% and 3.76% of the investigated plants respectively. Based on this, 11 species of good local landscape plants in Tibet were selected to analyze their application potential in gardens. The first Municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) plant in Lhasa, Tibet, the plateau region of China, started its operation in 2018. Considering the elevation and extreme climate (low pressure and low oxygen content) in Tibet, noticeable differences may be envisaged compared to MSWI elsewhere. The aim of this study is to evaluate the environmental impacts, economic benefits, and energy efficiency of this MSWI project with three representative MSWI case in plain region using Life cycle assessment (LCA), Cost-benefit analysis (CBA), and energy analysis methods. The result showed that enhancing blast volume and cross-sectional area of the boiler help adapt to the oxygen-deficient environment. GaBi model was employed based on the CML 2001 methodology to perform LCA. LCA shows that the Lhasa MSWI project has lower positive environment impacts than the projects in plain region. More attention is needed for the deficiencies in flue gas emissions of MSWI in the plateau region. CBA shows that the payback period is 11.97 years and the internal rate of return is 8.75%. The energy analysis indicates that the boiler energy efficiency is up to 81.92%. MSWI subject to minor changes seems suitable to Tibetan plateau, and can be deployed further. • A comparative study of MSWI in plateau and plain area was conducted. • Lhasa MSWI case was analyzed in terms of environment economic and energy aspects. • The environmental impact of Lhasa case has lower positive impacts than plain cases. • Technology improvements can't offset the impact of the environment completely. • The Lhasa MSWI case showed good economic benefit with policy support. Due to the special geographical conditions of Tibet, the plant species applied in local landscaping have been limited. In the landscaping project of Fujian Park, 59 woody landscape plant species were introduced from the hinterland, and the survival rate and growth vigor of these species had been observed for 15 years. In terms of growth vigor and ornamental character, about 32 species showed good performance such as Prunus cerasi&ra f. atropurpurea and Dendtobenthemia japonica; 8 species showed moderate growth performance such as Metasequak gjyptosttobaides Hu et Cheng and Magnolia denudata Desr.; 14 species showed poor growth vigor such as Ginkgo biloba L. and Osmanthus bagrans Lour., and 5 species died such as Albizzia julibrissin Durazz. and Hibiscus mutabilis L. Moreover, the paper explored key factors that influence the introduction of woody landscape plants in linzhi City, and pointed out that wind damage and low temperature were 2 key factors. Through investigating Tibetan courtyard landscapes in Linzhi City, Tibet, it was found that Tibetan courtyards attached more importance to flower plants and garden crops, focused on natural style and easy maintenance, but not pruning; Tibetan courtyard landscaping valued shape, color, flower season and visual aesthetics of flowers, tried to build "gardens" with flower configuration as the major content, similar aesthetic concepts and landscaping style with European gardens; moreover, it paid more attention to plants, but not waterscape design; in Tibetan gardens, lawns occupied a secondary position next to flowering plants, fruit trees and garden crops. According to the investigation, (1) There arc 368 applied garden plant species (including varieties) of 207 genera, 91 families; (2) In the tree layer, shrub layer and herb layer, Picea likiangensis var. likiangensis, Buxus megistophylla, Poa pratensis have the highest importance value, i.e., 43.050, 25.128, 45.950; (3) The most applied families in local landscaping are Rosaceae (53), Salicaceae (23), Compositae (21), Leguminosae (20), Gramineae (19), Pinaceae (16), Oleaceae (14) and Cupressaceae (12), accounting for 14.40%, 6.25%, 5.71%, 5.43%, 5.16%, 4.35%, 3.80% and 3.26% of the total, respectively; (4) The total landscaping level is poor and uneven, application of landscaping plants varies greatly among regions, garden application is poor; (5) Proportion of garden landscapes is unreasonable.
