This research aims to examine the studies on peer bullying in the preschool period completed between 2000 and 2020 in Turkey. The sample of the research consists of 32 studies, including 18 theses and 14 articles. According to the findings, it was determined that master's theses were more than doctoral theses. In the distribution by years, it is seen that the most theses were prepared in 2017 and 2019, and the most articles were prepared in 2019 and 2020. While the quantitative research approach is preferred the most in theses and articles; qualitative approach was not found in doctoral theses, and the mixed approach was not found in master's theses and articles. Descriptive and correlational survey model were used the most in theses, correlational survey model was used most in articles. The most common sample group in theses and articles is "preschool children". In theses and articles, three measurement tools are used the most frequently; and the data collection tool is the most frequently used scale. The cross-sectional method was used in all theses and most of the articles. It has been determined that the most preferred topic in theses and articles is demographic variables. Aim: Understanding the factors that influence the probability of endocrinology thesis publication can guide aspiring researchers in their academic pursuits. This study aimed to assess the publication rate of endocrinology theses and identify the factors that affect thesis publication. Methods: Endocrinology theses between January 1980 and April 2023 were assessed. The publication rates of theses and those published in journals indexed in SCIE and Scopus were examined. The thesis topics, study design, institution, index of the journal, author's number of first-author publications, H-index, and number of publications by thesis advisors were analyzed to determine their impact on the likelihood of publication. Results: Out of 277 theses, 142 (51.3%) of them had been published in international or national journals. One hundred seventeen (42.2%) were published in SCIE/Scopus indexed journals. A relationship was found between the thesis having a publication and that being conducted in a training and research hospital, a higher number of first-author publications, and a more recent year of the thesis. The H-index of thesis advisors for theses published in SCIE/Scopus-indexed journals was significantly higher (p=0.029). Conclusion: The rate of publication in international peer-reviewed journals for endocrinology theses was higher than the national average. However, there are still many theses waiting to be published. Enhancing the publication rate of endocrinology theses requires a systematic approach that addresses the identified factors affecting publication probability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This study aims to compare the publication rates of audiology master's and doctoral theses completed in 2017 and to investigate the effectiveness of the "publication of theses before graduation" rule applied by some universities. Materials and Methods: The participants' age range, gender, degrees, graduation year, private/state university graduation, institutions where they proceeded to their business life, and publication status of their master's and doctoral theses were questioned using a survey consisting of 16 multiple-choice as well as two open-ended questions. The study comprised 71 participants who completed their master's or doctoral degrees in audiology in 2017 and later. The descriptive statistic and Chi-Squared test were used for statistical analysis using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0. Results: Thirty-five of the 62 (56.45%) master's theses were presented at an international (n=21, 33.87%) or national (n=14, 22.58%) congress as oral/poster presentations. Thirty-three of the 62 (53.22%) master's theses were published as articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, of the 16 doctoral theses, two (12.5%) were presented as oral/posters at a national and five (31.25%) at an international congress. Ten of the 16 theses (62.5%) were published in an international SCI/SCIE journal. Conclusion: The rate of publication of master's and doctoral theses in national journals has decreased while the rate of publication in international journals has more than doubled. It was concluded that the "publishing theses before graduation" rule significantly increased the publication rates in international journals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study is to examine postgraduate theses conducted in the field of Early Childhood Education in Turkey between 2013 and 2023. In this study, data was collected using the technique of document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The population of the study consists of 352 postgraduate theses published in the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education between 2013 and 2023. The sample of the research consists of 191 master's theses and 21 doctoral theses that have been approved and published in the Department of Preschool Education, Department of Elementary Education, Department of Educational Sciences, and Department of Primary Education, all of which are openly accessible. The sample of the research also constitutes the study group of the research. The research findings indicate that the majority of the postgraduate theses conducted between 2013 and 2023 were master's theses. It is noteworthy that the number of doctoral theses is limited. The maximum year in which a postgraduate thesis was published has been determined as 2019. According to the findings obtained, the number of female authors and female advisors is significantly higher than the number of male authors and male advisors. Most postgraduate theses were conducted at the Institute of Educational Sciences. The conclusion has been reached that the most frequently coded focal point is "Education". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The principle of student-centered education, which has become increasingly important in recent years, is called the "principle of student suitability". In the education process, which will be determined according to the student, the teacher's inferences about how and in what way the student acquired and comprehended the information may have positive results in the learningteaching processes. Especially in instrument training lessons, which is an important subdimension of music education, one-to-one communication between the teacher and the student makes the principle of suitability for the student inevitable. In this study based on the scanning model, the document analysis method was used. In the study, firstly, what the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) inventory is explained. Then, different studies aiming to determine the personality types of students and teachers in the field of music education are included. Research on the subject was grouped under five themes (author of the research, year of the research, type of research, name of the research, place where the research was conducted) and analyzed by content analysis and shown in the table. It was found that the research conducted was mostly doctoral and master's theses. Additionally, when the relevant research results are examined; it is seen that in an education process planned according to the MBTI inventory, success in instrument lessons increases, students with extrovert (E) preference tend to focus on voice training, and introvert (I) students focus on instrument performance. OBJECTIVES: In Turkey, conducting research for a dissertation is necessary to obtain a specialist degree, but publication of this research is not mandatory. Previous studies have shown a low rate of publication for dissertation-derived research. The aim of this study was to determine publication rates, factors affecting the transformation of the dissertations into high-quality publications, and bibliometric analysis of published articles in the field of emergency medicine (EM). METHODS: This was a retrospective bibliometric study of EM dissertations submitted between 1998 and 2021 to the National Thesis Center. Research characteristics, publication status, journal characteristics, indexing, citation analysis, and institution characteristics were recorded. Journals indexed in the web of science (WOS) were defined as high-quality journals. A logistic regression was performed to identify factors affecting publication in high-quality journals. RESULTS: A total of 2434 dissertations were included. Of these, 864 (35.5%) were published and 474 (54%) were published in WOS-indexed journals. The most common area of research was trauma (n = 150, 17%), and the most common journal was the American Journal of EM (n = 74, 8%). Prospective data collection (odds ratio [OR] = 2.5, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.8-2.5), experimental design (OR = 2, 95%, CI = 1.3-3), university-type residency program (OR = 1.4, 95% CI = 1.02-2.1), and duration between year of graduation and publication (OR = 0.9, 95% CI = 0.84-0.95) were associated with publishing in WOS-indexed journals. CONCLUSION: EM is a relatively successful specialty for publishing dissertation-derived studies. Prospective and experimental research design, graduation from a university-type residency program, and shorter duration between the graduation and publication may increase the chance of publishing in high-quality journals. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively analyze postgraduate theses related to authentic leadership in the field of education in Turkey between the years 2000 and 2022. The study has been designed using a qualitative research method, particularly employing document analysis. In the process of identification of the sources, some criteria have been utilized for selecting the postgraduate theses to be included within the scope of the study. In this context, the scope of this study encompasses twenty-three postgraduate theses related to authentic leadership in the field of education, written between 2000 and 2022, as present in the YÖK [The Council of Higher Eductaion-CoHE] National Thesis Database. The data has been collected by using a data collection tool which is based on the thesis examination form developed by Tosuntaş et al. (2019). Categories that do not align with the study's objectives have been excluded from the analysis, and a category for the variables addressed in the theses has been added by the researcher. Content analysis technique has been utilized in the study to examine the current status of postgraduate theses on authentic leadership in the field of education, from the perspective of different variables. As a result, it has been observed that the number of postgraduate theses related to authentic leadership in the field of education is limited. A significant portion of the theses are master's theses. Data is generally collected from teachers, and in terms of thesis design, quantitative research methods are more commonly employed. Furthermore, when evaluating statistical analyses, quantitative methods are found to be predominantly favored in the theses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Prof. Dr. Umay Türkeş Günay is a well-known folklorist in Turkey and abroad. While writing her doctoral thesis, she applied to Elazig tales the Propp method, which was developed by Russian scientist Vladimir Propp in his work "Morfogija Skazki", published in Leningrad in 1928, which marks the beginning of her scientific works. She is the first scientist to implement the Propp method, which is frequently used by folklorists today, in Türkiye. She started her career at Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geogra- phy, and continued at Hacettepe University, thus creating the Hacettepe University school. She led the establishment of the chair of Turkish Folklore at the same university between 1985-1991. She received the title of "Associate Professor" with her research titled "Aşık Style Poetry Tradition and Dream Motif". She served as a member and consultant in commissions and committees related to culture, folklore and education activities of various institutions such as the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Türkiye, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of National Education, UNESCO and the State Planning Organization. In addition to her 5 books, Prof. Dr. Türkeş Günay has hundreds of publications including articles, papers, introductions-critiques, essays and translations. Prof. Dr. Umay Türkeş Günay, who continues her duty as the Dean of the Faculty of Education at Girne American University, sheds light on young researchers with her scientific articles and speeches. Scientists are people who produce, research, question, present their knowledge to the world of science and train young scientists. Prof. Dr. Umay Türkeş Günay, a scientist who has devoted her life to Turkish cultural studies, is principled, open to different suggestions and extremely objective as an administrator. She is uncompromising in scientific and business disciplines. She never conducts her relations with the people she works with on the subordinate-superior plane. By displaying her respectful style towards identities and personalities to both academic staff and students, she approaches young academics and students both like a mother and a teacher. In this study, information about Prof. Dr. Umay Türkeş Günay's life, her academic and administrative duties, the theses she supervised, and the books, articles and papers she wrote is given. In the study, the following books of Prof. Dr. Türkeş Günay, each a value in itself, were examined in detail: "Elazig Tales and Propp Method", "Aşık Style Poetry Tradition and Dream Motif in Turkey", "Risâlet-i Nushiyye and Yunus Emre", "History of Turks", and "Criticism of Turkish Culture". Based on the works of Turkish culture researcher Prof. Dr. Umay Türkeş Günay, attention was drawn to the messages she conveyed to the Turkish society and the importance of her books was examined. In the study, the views of Prof. Dr. Umay Türkeş Günay about science and the situation of the Turkish world in the historical course were pointed out and her suggestions and solutions were discussed. In addition, the articles written by Prof. Dr. Umay Türkeş Günay on the importance of critical perspective as regards the development and growth of societies are also included within the scope of the study. In addition, the bibliography of Prof. Dr. Umay Türkeş Günay's works is provided. Thus, an attempt has been made to draw a scientific portrait of Prof. Dr. Türkeş Günay based on the works. In the 80th year of her birth, the life path of the professor of the professors, Umay Mother of the Turks, is examined and her contribution to Turkish science is highlighted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the post Ph.D. thesis period, Simon, the only participant in this study was encouraged to reflect on his learning process by his supervisor through interviews. Simon had already reflected on the practice of colleagues during the thesis process; however, this follow-up study brought out the researcher's own voice. Taking a view of identity that emphasizes the interaction between the personal and the professional, the study reveals that Simon was able to understand how reflection on a wide range of incidents and memories, and the classification and thematising of these, led to insights into his own identity growth. The analysis of his own interview data led to reflection on the connections between different aspects of identity. As the analysis progressed, self-confidence and self-realisation emerged as personal themes, and changed teaching content, and changed relationships with students, as professional themes. The learning in the thesis became subject to greater scrutiny, or meta-reflection, and he was able to compare himself with thesis participants, and insights into his changed identity in relation to them. The links emerging involved his roles as writer, researcher, learner and teacher. Some implications for thesis supervision are provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOLOGY of teachers ,MARITAL status ,RANDOM effects model ,WELL-being ,ACADEMIC dissertations ,PUBLICATION bias - Abstract
The study's main purpose is to reveal the effect of gender and marital status variables on teachers' well-being levels. Master's and doctoral dissertations and articles on the subject of research in Turkey between the years 2011-2022 constitute the primary data source of this study. In order to reach the relevant studies, the keyword "well-being" was searched in Turkish and English from the Council of Higher Education Thesis Center, ERIC, ULAKBİM, and Google Scholar databases. There were 62 studies for the gender variable and 36 for the marital status variable out of 82 studies on the research subject. The Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Version 2.2.064 (CMA) program was used to analyze the data. The analysis results showed that there was no publication bias in the individual studies in the study for all variables. The analysis made according to the random effects model revealed that the overall effect size of the gender variable (d=0.05) and the effect size of the marital status variable (d=-0.12) on teachers' well-being levels were weak and insignificant. As a result of moderator analyses for all variables, statistically significant inconclusive results have been achieved. The findings of the research showed that the characteristics of teachers, such as gender and marital status, did not have an effect on teachers' well-being levels, or they were at a very weak level. The effect of research characteristics on research findings revealed that the type of grade, publication type, school type, teacher branch, the region where the research was conducted, and the gender of the researcher did not have a moderator effect. Turkey’s increasing presence and developing relations in Africa have increased the academic interest in this region in our country. While the bilateral agreements developed in the political, military and economic fields bring Turkey and the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) countries closer to each other, the reflections of this in the field of education are manifested by increasing academic studies. Not only the African students who came to study in our country, but also the theses produced by the local academicians of our country on Africa has approached two thousand. While academics in Turkey generally try to understand and make sense of Turkey’s new foreign policy initiatives towards Africa, the theses produced by students coming from African countries see the transformation in their own geographies during and after the colonial period as a tool in the construction of relations with Turkey. In a sense, the view of Turks towards Africa and the view of Africans towards Turkey intersect in these theses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The gender issue is a relatively new topic in migration studies. However, with increasing awareness, it has gained growing popularity among research topics dealing with human mobility. As a research interest, it also naturally stands out in Turkiye, a destination country for large-scale immigration movements. Considering all this, one can see the importance and necessity of examining studies that address gender and migration in tandem. Such an academic endeavor could bring about key results in terms of identifying more and less focused themes by gender and migration studies, thus helping formulate functional recommendations for further research. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the postgraduate dissertations directly focusing on gender in the context of migration in Turkiye. To this end, 57 postgraduate dissertations were examined by the years they were completed, the universities in which they were made, the gender of authors, the methods of the dissertations in general, and the sample or study groups. The findings evaluated were based on the relevant literature. The findings show that there is a growing interest in the migration issue as part of the academic studies in Turkiye. However, the studies in the context of gender and migration are still limited. There is very little research on this subject at the doctoral level. The findings highlight the need for the diversification and enrichment of gender and migration studies in certain aspects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, significant efforts have been made by Turkish researchers to contribute to knowledge production in the field of educational administration to match the scholarly endeavor of their international peers. The main purpose of these scientific studies, including dissertations, is to produce knowledge and offer original alternatives to solving problems through several philosophical approaches. Consistent with this effort, the present study aims to evaluate the dissertations produced in the field of educational administration epistemologically as well as ontologically, in respect of Habermas's knowledge taxonomy. The research was conducted using document and discourse analysis, which are qualitative research methods, and 215 dissertations prepared in 23 different universities accessed from Council of Higher Education Thesis Center database were analyzed. The results show that Eskisehir Osmangazi, Hacettepe and Ankara Universities take the lead in the production of dissertations. It was found the number of males was higher in both researcher and supervisor positions, that mainly quantitative research methods were used, and that empiricalanalytical knowledge was produced. The limitation of historicalhermeneutical/ interpretative and critically oriented knowledge types is another original finding. The dataset included only dissertations and excluded other sources from Turkey. The authors believe that this study will serve as basis for a better understanding of the current features of the field. In addition, this study, which was conducted in a non-Western country, is expected to affect the knowledge production trend in the field of educational administration and support the diversity of knowledge in dissertations, which are detailed studies shedding light on the future. In this study, the purpose was to reveal the content analysis of master's theses and doctoral dissertations in the field of CEIT between 2018-2020. The field of CEIT could be said to cover the fields of educational technology and distance education. A total of 156 master's theses and dissertations were examined in order to identify the keywords, academic discipline, research areas, theoretical frameworks, research designs and models, variables and related institutions. According to the research findings, it was seen that quantitative methods were mostly used in the theses and dissertations examined and that mixed methods were used in master's theses more than in doctoral dissertations. In addition, it was revealed that few of the theses and dissertations had theoretical foundations. K-12 students were mostly preferred as the type of participant, and scales and interviews were most popular as data collection tools. Moreover, the variables of academic performance and effectiveness were mostly used as dependent variables. The present study, which conducted systematic content analysis of master's and doctoral dissertations in the field of CEIT, is thought to be important in terms of revealing the current situation in the fields of Educational Technology and Distance Education and determining the research trends.
