This study is based on specimens of species that were collected by light trap in Diyarbakır Province, located in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey, and which are rarely known in Anatolia. 7 species (Acrosternum breviceps (Jakovlev, 1889), Mecidea lindbergi Wagner, 1954, Lethaeus nitidus (Douglas & Scott, 1868), Megalonotus maximus (Puton, 1895), Peritrechus flavicornis Jakovlev, 1877, Ectomocoris caucasicus Linnavuori, 1972 and Reduvius ciliatus Jakovlev, 1879) specimens were examined and diagnostic photographs of their general morphology and male genitalia were presented. In this study, 82 nests in the Thrace region, the only distribution area of the European redwood ant (Formica pratensis Retzius,1783) in Turkey, were identified and monitored for two years. A nest ID was created for each nest, showing nest features, strategic location, habitat characteristics and some morphometric differences of workers. The species ' living areas (area of occupancy, AOO) and extension of occurrence (EOO) calculations were also carried out. Statistical analyses were carried out to show the relationships between these features. The results demonstrated that the optimum distribution of the nests is between 300-600 m, and the nests are mainly located at a distance of 0-200 m close to the water source. Nests are mostly built facing south in open areas in fields or forests, and the B-shaped nest is the most frequently observed nest morphology. Moreover, colony individuals frequently visit oak and blackberry species, and the Thracian population tends to form monodomous nests at a rate of 95%. The relationship between the morphological characteristics of ants (NHLI, NBH, LBH and HW), nest altitude data, and the distance of nests to water sources and forest areas was tested with Spearman rank correlation analysis, and a weak reverse correlation was found between the averages of NBH data and nest altitudes (r: -0.300; p<0.05), at 95% confidence interval. Accordingly, the AOO of the species in the Thrace region was calculated as 50,176 m2 and the EOO was 3,682 km2. All nests are shown on political maps, and applicable maps have been created in which buffer zoning and conservation areas are suggested. In total, 36 conservation and awareness training types were also carried out in two years, reaching 1201 students, and 92% awareness was created. The flat wasps genus, Pristepyris Kieffer is reported for the first time from Türkiye based on the identification of Pristepyris masii (Soika, 1933). Now, with this new record, the species number of Bethylidae from Türkiye has increased to ten. Additionally, new data are presented for Epyris niger Westwood, 1832, Sclerodermus ephippius (Saunders, 1881) and Pristocera depressa (Fabricius, 1804), which were previously recorded from Turkey. Diplocephalus graecus (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1873) is recorded from Türkiye for the first time. In addition, characteristic features and photographs of D. graecus are presented. A redescription of the male of Scaurus araxinus Richter, 1945 is given and the female is described for the first time. The species occurs in Azerbaijan (Nakhichevan Republic), Armenia (Tigranashen and Yeghegnadzor) and Eastern Turkey (first record in Iğdır province). It had been regarded as conspecific with S. syriacus Reitter, 1914 and S. puncticollis Solier, 1838 but clearly differs from both these species and is close to S. rugicollis Reitter, 1914 from the Mediterranean region. The female genital tubes of S. araxinus are figured, the first such illustration for the tribe Scaurini. The genus Scaurus has a small secondary bursa copulatrix, separated glandular, moderately short, spermatheca and a relatively short accessory gland, similar to those found in some genera of the tribe Helopini. Apterous and alate viviparous females of Hyadaphis bupleuriphila sp. n. living on Bupleurum sp. (Apiaceae) and further undetermined Apiaceae are described from the Ankara province in central Turkey. The new species is morphologically similar to Hyadaphis coerulescens (Narzikulov, 1965), H. ferganica Mukhamediev & Akhmedov, 1979 and H. foeniculi (Passerini, 1860). Two species, Pardosa pertinax von Helversen, 2000 and Simitidion agaricographum (Levy & Amitai, 1982), are reported from Turkey for the first time. A new Turkish locality is presented for Euophrys sulphurea (L. Koch, 1867). In the lycosid Pardosa atomaria (C. L. Koch, 1847), a variability of receptacle shape was reported. A lycosid Arctosa tbilisiensis Mcheidze, 1946 was proved to be formerly confused with Arctosa lutetiana (Simon, 1876); the latter species thus has to be deleted from the check list of Turkish spiders. Liosarcophaga(s. str.)bartakisp. n. is described from Turkey based on four males collected at three locations in Western Turkey. Leistus terminatus (Panzer, 1793) is recorded for the first time from Turkey. A single specimen was collected from Kovada Lake National Park (Isparta, Turkey). The new record extends the known distribution of this species through Southeastern Europe including Turkey. Information about its distribution, habitat and some morphological properties are given. Tachysphex pompiliformis (Panzer, 1804) and T. austriacus Kohl, 1892 species subgroups belong to the T. pompiliformis species group, and both subgroups consist of morphologically similar species. The T. austriacus Kohl species subgroup comprises four species in Europe and Turkey. For this subgroup, differential diagnoses of T. austriacus and T. prismaticus Straka, 2005 are presented, and T. hungaricus sp. n. from Hungary and T. smissenae sp. n. from Spain, France and Turkey are described. The T. pompiliformis species subgroup consists of ten species from Europe and Turkey. For this subgroup, differential diagnoses of T. ferrugineus Pulawski, 1967 and T. opacus F. Morawitz, 1893, as well as the differential diagnosis and redescription of T. pompiliformis, are presented. Tachysphex dimidiatus (Panzer, 1809), T. jokischianus (Panzer, 1809) and T. nigripennis (Spinola, 1808) are resurrected from synonymy with T. pompiliformis and redescribed. Neotypes of T. dimidiatus (Panzer) and T. nigripennis (Spinola) are designed. Tachysphex bohemicus sp. n. from the Czech Republic; T. cretensis sp. n. from Crete, Greece; T. nobilis sp. n. from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Turkey; and T. punctipleuris sp. n. from Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia and Turkey are described. In this study, Prozercon banazensis sp. nov. is described and illustrated from female and deutonymph specimens collected in Kütahya and Uşak provinces (Turkey). In this paper, diurnal moths and the butterflies, which were collected by author during the field works in Çubuk district in Ankara province. In this study 67 lepidopteran species from 15 families were determined. Totally 41 species of butterflies and 26 species of diurnal moths were listed. The maple bark beetle, Scolytus koenigi Schevyrew, 1890 is reported for the first time from Turkey. Two adults of this species were collected from Kasnak Oak Nature Protected Area in Isparta-Eğirdir province (South-western Turkey). The Poecilimon luschani species group ( Orthoptera, Tettigonioidea, Phaneropterinae), ranging along a narrow line in West Anatolia and the Balkan mountains, has been revised using integrated data from morphology, bioacoustics, and DNA sequences of two matrilineal markers. A taxonomic approach neutral with respect to existing species/subspecies was applied to the sampled populations. The male calling song showed poor variation amongst the populations. Of the morphological structures, only the male cerci and male subgenital plate offer diagnostic characters but they are secondary gains or losses in most cases. Phylogenetic analyses applied to a data matrix consisting of concatenated 1401 bp long sequences of 16S rDNA and cytochrome oxidase subunit I produced from specimens of the group resulted in trees with similar topologies. Both genetic and phenotypic data confirmed the species status of the geographically discrete Izmir, Balkan, Aydın, Kütahya, and Balıkesir populations. However, 13 populations located in the southern part of the group's range in Antalya and Muğla Provinces of Turkey present a complex phylogenetic and morphological pattern of three morphological units, but two phylogroups. By integrating song, morphology, and phylogenetic data the following conclusions were made. The species status of Poecilimon ledereri and Poecilimon orbelicus was confirmed. The Aydın population was re-established as a valid species, P. tuncayi stat. rev. The Kütahya population was elevated to species level as Poecilimon egrigozi Ünal, 2005, stat. nov. The Balıkesir population is here described as a new species Poecilimon helleri sp. nov. The southern lineage of the species group exhibits characteristics of a chain species with three subspecies. Poecilimon luschani is retained as the species name by priority and the Poecilimon birandi is considered its subspecies as Poecilimon luschani birandi stat. nov. A new subspecies Poecilimon luschani chobanovi ssp. nov. is described. Highlights: [•] In order to elucidate the taxonomic status and the distribution of the members of the P. major complex in Turkey, we used both morphological and molecular characters. New records of 3 genera and 3 species of Salticidae from Turkey are presented for Bianor albobimaculatus (Lucas, 1846), Dendryphantes rudis (Sundevall, 1833) and Hyllus insularis Metzner, 1999. Their morphology is briefly described and illustrated. Current knowledge on diversity of Salticidae in Turkey is also reviewed. Total number of Salticidae species recorded from Turkey now is 102. This study was carried out in order to determine species of the subfamily Opiinae in Turkey. The collected materials from new localities were identified, and faunistic records of 63 species belonging to 3 genera of Opiinae were given. Ten of these species are reported as new to Turkey. This study is based upon material of the family Dermestidae collected from diferent localities in Turkey between 1965 and 2012. he study resulted in the recording for the Turkish fauna of 28 species of 6 genera belonging to 3 subfamilies (Attageninae, Dermestinae, Megatominae) within the family Dermestidae. Among them, Attagenus unicolor unicolor (Brahm, 1791), Anthrenus scrophulariae scrophulariae (Linnaeus, 1758), and Anthrenus goliath Saulcy in Mulsant & Rey, 1868 have been found to be the most abundant and widespread species. This study was conducted in the Bayburt, Erzincan, and Erzurum provinces of Turkey during 2009 and 2010. A total of 10 species in 6 genera from the subfamilies Miltogramminae (4 species in 2 genera) and Paramacronychiinae (6 species in 4 genera) were determined. The genera Angiometopa Brauer and Bergenstamm, 1889 and Brachicoma Rondani, 1856 and the species Angiometopa falleni Pape, 1986, Brachicoma devia (Fallén, 1820), Macronychia polyodon (Meigen, 1824), and M. striginervis (Zetterstedt, 1838) are recorded for the first time from Turkey. Abstract: A new genus, Lehmannodes gen. nov., is described for Aplocera guneyiRiemis, 1992, and the morphological characters of the single included species are compared with those of the (type-) species of probably related Chesiadini genera like Amygdaloptera, Chesias, Chesistege, Lithostege, Odezia, Schistostege, Carsia and true Aplocera. Adults of the discussed species and their male and female genitalia are figured. In addition, the available COI DNA barcoding data of selected species of the tribe Chesiadini and other genera of Palaearctic Larentiinae are studied and compared. Both, morphological and molecular aspects indicate that guneyi in fact deserves a genus of its own which is most closely related to Amygdaloptera (morphological data only), Odezia and Schistostege. Arrenurus (Truncaturus) corsicus (E. Angelier, 1951) is newly recorded for the Turkish fauna. It can be easily distinguished from other Truncaturus species by the pedipalpal femur with numerous hair-like setae medially, elongated idiosoma, and anterior coxae extending beyond anterior idiosoma margin. Phonochorion Uvarov (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae: Phaneropterinae) is a little known genus consisting of three species: Ph. satunini, Ph. artvinensis and Ph. uvarovi. The objective of this study is to conduct a thorough distributional, taxonomic and systematic revision of the genus Phonochorion using both bioacustic and external morphological characters. Field surveys indicate that the genus is distributed from the Trabzon region of Turkey to the Khulo province of Georgia however the exact limit of the eastern distribution of the genus remains unknown. Phonochorion species occur only on the northern slopes of the East Black Sea and Lesser Caucasus Mountains. The Coruh Valley, which seprates the East Black Sea and Lesser Caucasus Mountain ranges, seems to be an effective physical and climatic barrier and determines the distribution of these species. Ph. uvarovi can clearly be distinguished fromPh. satunini and Ph. artvinensis by the calling songs of males and external morphological characters. Ph. artvinensis and Ph. satunini differ in several taxonomic characters but the males have virtually identical calling songs. From a character evolution perspective, although geographically more distant, Ph. satunini is more closely related to Ph. uvarovi than Ph. artvinensis. Morphological similarities in several characters indicate Phonochorion to be most closely related to Polysarcus zacharovi and thePoecilimon heroicus-group. In opilionids, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies are necessary to identify the characters of taxonomic and systematic importance. Such studies are needed especially for understanding the functional anatomy and morphology of opilionids. In Turkey, Phalangium opilio L., Phalangium pareissi Roewer, Phalangium punctipes (L. Koch), Phalangium savignyi Audouin, and Phalangium strandi Nosek are known. There are no SEM studies on P. opilio. In this study, cuticular setae, hairs, and denticles on the segments of legs, pedipalpus, and chelicerae of P. opilio are described. Also, the description and SEM pictures of the dorsal integument and articulations, chelicerae, pedipalpus, and legs of the male specimens are given.
