The aim of this study is to develop a theoretically sound, valid, and reliable scale to examine seventh and eighth grade students' attitudes towards so-called skill-based mathematics questions (SBMQ). The sample of the study was 820 seventh and eighth grade students at three different middle schools in Etimesgut District of Ankara Province. A draft item pool was crafted after a detailed literature review and the scale was finalized for the implementation after receiving expert opinions. This version of scale was administered shortly before the national examination which included skill-based questions in the 2022-2023 academic year. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis methods were used to examine the construct validity of the scale. The analysis resulted in 16 items in three factors (affective, cognitive, and motivational) which explained 46% of the total variance. Cronbach's alpha and composite reliability scores were above 0.70 for each factor and whole scale. The results indicated that the Attitudes Towards SBMQ Scale developed for seventh and eighth grade students is valid and reliable.

In this paper, we aimed to explore the connection between teacher emotion and self-regulation, the predictive power of teacher emotions on teacher self-regulation, and factors that influence teachers' emotions. An exploratory sequential design was adopted in the study. Data was gathered from 403 teachers teaching actively in elementary grades in the quantitative dimension. In the qualitative dimension, a focus group interview was held with eight teachers. The Teacher Emotion Questionnaire (TEQ), The Teacher Self-Regulation Scale, and focus group interview questions were used to collect data. The quantitative data was analyzed through correlational analysis and simple linear regression analysis and the qualitative data was analyzed through content analysis. The quantitative findings demonstrated that teachers' pride and love in the profession significantly predicted teacher self-regulation levels; however, predicted only 2% of the variability in teacher self-regulation. The findings from the qualitative dimension seemed to explain why we did not find significant relationships between teacher self-regulation and teacher emotions. Emotions seem to be unrelated to teaching skills. Instead, the teachers attribute the source of their emotions mostly to external factors and individual characteristics to some extent.

This study aims to adapt the Academic Entitlement Scale to Turkish culture and examine the scale's measurement invariance according to gender. The study was conducted with 372 university students aged 18 and 54 (I = 20.90). The study used the Academic Entitlement Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Narcissistic Personality Inventory, and Locus of Control Scale as data collection tools. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed to identify the construct validity of the scale. The measurement invariance of the scale according to gender was examined using multi-group confirmatory factor analysis. Correlations between research variables were analyzed with the Pearson Correlation Test. Cronbach's Alpha was performed to measure the internal consistency reliability of the study. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that academic entitlement was positively correlated with self-esteem and external locus of control. In addition, it was revealed that the externalized responsibility sub-dimension was positively correlated to narcissism. The research findings indicate that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool within Turkish culture.

This study introduces the Questionnaire of AI Use Motives (QAIUM), an instrument designed to measure motivation levels in individuals using artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Building on a theoretical framework that emphasizes motivation over dispositions and defines motivation as expectancy/value, the QAIUM aims to fill a research gap in understanding the motivational factors that govern AI application use. Previous studies have often overlooked this human aspect, focusing instead on technological facets while failing to provide a robust theoretical foundation for measuring motivation. The QAIUM, administered to 1068 university students across various degree programs, was evaluated for its factorial structure, reliability, discriminatory capacity, and correlation with the General Attitudes to Artificial Intelligence Scale (GAAIS). The results demonstrate that the QAIUM aligns with the Eccles and Wigfield motivation model, boasts good reliability levels, discriminatory capacity, and a significant correlation with GAAIS, confirming its validation and reliability. Hence, the QAIUM provides an effective tool for investigating motivational factors affecting AI application utilization in academic instruction and intervention.

One of the major obstacles to the continuation of life on Earth is the global climate change. The fact that our nation is experiencing a minor impact from the global climate change does not change the reality that there is no problem. It is well recognized that the polar areas are the most impacted by the global climate change, or that the triggering of the Polar Regions would have a significant influence on the whole planet. In this scenario, science teachers have a significant deal of responsibility for raising awareness of polar science subject among future generations. As a result, it is in our hands to mitigate the impacts of global climate change through increased student knowledge. The screening model was used in the study to show the knowledge and awareness levels of science teachers on polar sciences, who will supply this awareness. The "Polar Sciences Awareness Questionnaire-PSAQ" data collecting instrument, whose validity and reliability were calculated, was employed within the parameters of the study. PSAQ was created in Google Form style with web-based access. The data were collected voluntarily from 205 science teachers working in a province in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, which is the population of the study. The statistical package program SPSS 26 was used to analyze the data that had been collected. The research revealed that while science instructors were aware of the North Pole, South Pole and climate change, their awareness was not very high. It is because science instructors lack a specific education in polar sciences that they do receive explicitly. The report makes several recommendations, one of which is to include polar science learning outcomes and lessons in teacher and student education programs.

This methodological study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Evaluation of the Impact of Hearing Loss in Adults (ERSA) questionnaire for individuals with treated hearing loss. The study involved 200 participants, and both exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used to examine structural validity. External validity was assessed by correlating ERSA scores with the Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit (APHAB). Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were evaluated using Cronbach's alpha and the intraclass correlation coefficient, respectively. The Turkish ERSA demonstrated strong psychometric properties, with significant correlations between APHAB and ERSA scores and excellent internal consistency and test-retest reliability. The findings suggest that the Turkish ERSA is a valid and reliable tool for evaluating the impact of hearing loss in individuals.

The aim of this study is to conduct a validity and reliability study for adaptation of the scale of learning strategies (the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire) to Turkish, which was developed by Pintrich, Smith, Garcia and McKeachie (1991) and adapted by Meijs et al. (2019) for distance education students. The Scale of Learning Strategies for Distance Education Students is a scale consisting of 25 items and 5 factors (management of time and effort, complex cognitive strategies use, simple cognitive strategies use, communication with others, and academic thinking). After testing equivalance of Turkish form, the validity and reliability studies of the Scale of Learning Strategies for Distance Education Students were conducted with participation of 411 students studying in different departments of Kocaeli University in the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) method was used for the adaptation of the scale, the significance of the differences between item average scores of the groups over and below 27% were examined with Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficients, corrected item-total correlations, and t-test in order to determine the relability. As a result of normality test and first CFA, the 2nd and 6th items in the time and effort management sub-dimension were excluded from the scale in accordance with expert opinions due to fact that their standardized regression coefficients were not significant (p>0.05). When the fit indices were examined as a result of the analysis, the findings were as follows X[superscript 2]/sd =2.594, RMSEA= 0.064, SRMR= 0.0616, GFI= 0.894, NFI= 0.879, TLI= 0.908, CFI= 0.921 and IFI=0,922. The corrected total correlations of the scale items ranged between 0.37 and 0.68. The results of t-test applied to the scores of the groups over and below 27% were found to be significant for all items. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the reliability of the overall scale was calculated as 0.915. Reliability for sub dimensions: Management of time and effort [alpha]=0,69; Complex cognitive strategy use [alpha]= 0,82; Simple cognitive strategy use [alpha]=0,87; Contacts with others [alpha]=0,76; Academic thinking [alpha]=0,88. A significant correlation was determined between the sub-dimensions of the scale and between the subdimensions and the total. According to these findings, adaption of the scale to Turkish is valid and reliable.

Latent Class and Latent Profile Models are widely used in psychological assessment settings, especially when individual differences are suspected to be related to unobserved class memberships, such as different personality types. This paper provides an easy-to-follow introduction and application of the methodology to the data collected as part of more extensive educational research investigating social-emotional competency profiles of preservice teachers (n=184) who responded to an Emotional Awareness Questionnaire. Suspected that there would be two or more latent emotional awareness sub-groups in the sample, a series of latent profile models was estimated. The results suggested three distinct emotional awareness profiles; namely, introverted, extroverted, and less sensitive to others' emotions, with proportions of 9%, 56%, and 35%, respectively. Subsequent analyses showed that preservice teachers with higher levels of emotionality, sociability, and well-being were more likely to be in the extroverted profile. The findings suggest that nearly half of the teachers in the sample could be expected to possess the most professionally desirable teacher profile. Nonetheless, it was noted that if timely diagnostic and tailored training or intervention programs were available, at least some of the preservice teachers in the less sensitive to others' profiles, and most of the preservice teachers in the introverted profile could be helped to self-observe the way which they tend to identify and regulate their emotions.

K-8 science teacher candidates often struggle with the difficult learning tasks in multiple science courses in their teacher-training program. One of the major parts of these science courses is biology. Student learning in biology depends on their motivational and affective variables as much as their cognitive abilities. As one of the theories of motivation, the achievement goal theory seeks how individuals pursue academic study by focusing on mastery or performance goals. In addition to goal settings, achievement emotions also influence learners' academic performance. The authors suggested a theoretical model integrating achievement emotions into the construct of achievement goal theory. The present study has potential provide more insight into individual differences in goal preferences. This model was examined with K-8 science teacher candidates (n = 581). To test the theoretical model, the "Achievement Goal Questionnaire for Biology Learning" (AGQ-BL) was devised. According to the theoretical model, the AGQ-BL consisted of six subscales which are Mastery Goals-(affective-cognitive), Performance Goals-Approach (Affective-Cognitive), and Performance Goals Avoidance-(affective-cognitive). The explanatory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were utilized to verify the construct validity of the AGQ-BL. The results of EFA showed and CFA confirmed that the AGQ-BL was composed of six factors, as proposed by the theoretical framework. Internal consistency of the subscales of the AGQ-BL computed by Cronbach's alpha revealed high reliability for each. This study empirically demonstrated the integration of cognitive and emotional goals in achievement settings regarding biology learning. Thus, it can be asserted achievement goals' structure could have more predictive potential on affective and cognitive variables in biology education.

The goals for the study were threefold. One was to screen for traumatic experiences and challenging behaviors in children who live in an at-risk, deprived environment in Eastern Türkiye. Using a projective technique, second goal was to explore how children in such an environment experienced trauma. Finally, the third aim of the study was to explore the relationship between traumatic experiences and challenging behaviors. The mixed technique, which uses both qualitative and quantitative research methods, was used in the present study. The traumatic screening inventory was distributed to the parents to screen for a range of traumatic events the children had experienced. The data about challenging behaviors of the children was obtained using the "Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire". Finally, children completed three unfinished short stories containing elements representing the risk factors of the region during one-on-one interviews. Ninety-five children living in an eastern Turkish city participated in the study, and the results showed that children's responses to story completion indicating high trauma were positively associated with challenging behaviors. Specifically, children's traumatic responses were associated with high levels of emotional symptoms, conduct problems, hyperactivity, and peer problems.

The aim of this study was to adapt the Turkish version of the Questionnaire on Attitudes towards Disability in Higher Education (QAD-HE) developed by Fuentes, Pérez-Padilla, Fuente, and Aranda (2021) into the national literature by conducting validity and reliability studies. In this context, this study included findings related to the validity and reliability of the adapted scale. A total of 606 individuals from a state university participated in this study. Of the participants, 535 were students and 71 were teachers. The findings revealed that the Questionnaire on Attitudes toward Disability in Higher Education (QAD-HE), which was adapted within the scope of the research, contains 27 items and has a two-dimensional structure as "egalitarian attitudes" and "prejudiced attitudes." The findings showed that the Questionnaire on Attitudes toward Disability in Higher Education can be used to determine attitudes toward individuals with disabilities studying or working in higher education in Turkey.

Purpose: Speech and language disorders can negatively affect preschool children's communicative participation skills. Focus on the Outcomes of Communication Under Six-34 (FOCUS-34) is a valid and reliable scale that evaluates communicative participation in preschool children with speech and language disorders. This study aimed to establish the Turkish version of FOCUS-34 (FOCUS-34-TR) and investigate its validity and reliability. Method: A total of 175 children with language disorders, speech sound disorders, and fluency disorders (aged 20-72 months) and their parents were included in the study. Parents were asked to complete the demographic information form, the FOCUS-34-TR scale, and the Ages and Stages Questionnaires: Social-Emotional (ASQ-SE) Turkish version. The construct validity, convergent and divergent validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability of the scale were investigated. Results: The FOCUS-34-TR had high values for internal consistency ([alpha] = 0.97) and test-retest reliability (r = 0.95). The correlations between the FOCUS-34-TR total score and its subscales were between 0.77 and 0.90. A moderately significant negative correlation was found between the FOCUS-34-TR scale and the ASQ-SE. Conclusion: The Turkish version of FOCUS-34 is a valid and reliable scale that can be used in clinics and for research purposes to evaluate the communicative participation skills of Turkish-speaking preschool children with speech and language disorders.

This study aimed to assess the moderating role of gender in the relationship between childhood abuse and mental disorders in the population of a country that has been little studied. This research was designed by the correlational model, one of the quantitative research designs. 272 university students attending a state university in Turkey participated in the research. For sample selection, the convenience sampling method was used. As a result of analyses within the scope of the present study, it was concluded that gender had a moderating effect on the relationship between sexual abuse and somatisation, emotional abuse and negative self and physical neglect and hostility. This finding may help clinicians and researchers in providing optimal health services.

This study examined the predictive relationships between collective teacher efficacy, job satisfaction, and burnout. In addition, the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between collective teacher efficacy and burnout was tested. Three hundred fifty teachers participated in the research in which the correlational research design was used. Collective Teacher Efficacy Scale, Short Form Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire, and Maslach Burnout Inventory were used as data collection tools. Pearson Correlation Coefficients were calculated to examine the relationships between collective teacher efficacy, job satisfaction, and burnout. Structural equation model analysis was applied to test the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between collective efficacy and burnout. The results indicated that collective teacher efficacy predicts job satisfaction positively and burnout negatively. Collective teacher efficacy and job satisfaction have a large effect on burnout. Evidence has been obtained that teachers' job satisfaction can increase and, accordingly, burnout can be prevented when collective teacher efficacy is achieved.

This research examines the impact of teachers' positive psychological capital (PPC) on their job satisfaction (JS) levels. In the study, the relational survey model was used by conducting hierarchical regression analysis. The sample of the study consists of randomly selected 376 teachers in Batman, Turkey. The data were collected with the "Positive Psychological Capital Scale" and "Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale (MSQ-Short form)". According to the results, the PPC levels (total scores and dimensions) of the teachers are at a very high level; only the optimism dimension of the PPC scale and JS were found to be at a high level. In the regression analysis, the model (Model 6) that measures the effect of all dimensions of PPC on JS is significant. This finding implies that PPC is a significant predictor on JS and approximately 22% of the total variance in job satisfaction is explained PPC. The results of the study imply that self-efficacy and optimism components of PPC can be used to increase JS of teachers even the economic needs are not adequately met. The first purpose of this study was to examine the associations between students' motivational characteristics and their language-specific grit for learning English. Second, this study aimed to investigate how students' language-specific grit and motivational characteristics related to their achievement in English. While examining the presence of associations sought through both of the research questions, a particular overall purpose was to identify what specific variables included in the analyses had the strongest impact on group differentiation concerning the dependent variables of grit and achievement. The participants included 182 students enrolled in a tertiary English preparatory program in Turkey. Chi-squared automatic interaction detection (CHAID) algorithm as a data mining method was used to analyze the data. The results revealed that task value, self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation had significant impacts on differentiating the students with different levels of grit. Moreover, language-specific grit, test anxiety, self-efficacy and control beliefs significantly related to students' achievement.

The purpose of this research was to examine relationship between the eighth-grade gifted students' perceptions of science learning environment constructive learning environment perception (CLEP) and their motivations motivation to learn science (MLS) to learn science with their intellectual risk-taking (IRT) and science achievement (SA). For this purpose, the predictive research method was chosen. The sample consisted of 133 8th grade gifted students in Science and Art Centers in nine provinces of Turkey. The data collection instruments involved "IRT Scale," "Motivational Strategies for Learning Questionnaire," "Constructivist Learning Environment Scale," and "SA Test." In the research, path analysis was used to determine causal relationships between these variables. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that CLEP predicted IRT and SA, MLS significantly predicted IRT in learning science and SA and IRT in learning science predicted SA. The findings were discussed by considering their importance for teaching and learning science in gifted education context.

The aim of this study was to adapt Shared-Metacognition Questionnaire (SMQ) into Turkish. The original version of the SMQ consisting of 26 items and two factors measures metacognition in online collaborative learning environments based on the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework. The data were collected from 364 university students who had online learning experience. Confirmatory factor analysis was done on two-factor and three-factor model. The three-factor model was confirmed with satisfactory model fit indices. The value of AVE for each dimension verified the convergent validity. For verifying discriminant validity, the AVE estimates of three factors were compared with the square of correlation among the factors, and reported as greater than shared-variance of related row-column values. The factor loading values indicated very good to excellent loadings, as verifying the statistically satisfactory indicator reliability. For internal consistency, composite reliability and alpha reliability were found satisfactory. Thus, the Turkish version of the SMQ indicated a reliable and valid estimate for online collaborative learning environments. Moreover, an Independent Samples t-Test was performed to examine whether there is a significant mean difference between female and male groups, and revealed that females scored higher on total shared metacognition, individual monitoring, individual regulation and group regulation than males.

This research aims to determine secondary school teachers' creativity and job satisfaction. For this purpose, a simple random sampling method was used in the study conducted with teachers working in secondary schools in Baglar, Kayapinar, Sur, and Yenisehir districts of Diyarbakir province. The research used short forms of the "Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale" and the "Teacher Creativity Scale" as data collection tools. Teachers' perceptions about the sub-dimensions of job satisfaction and teacher creativity scales were described with arithmetic mean and standard deviation. Whether the job satisfaction levels of the teachers can be estimated from the creativity levels was tested by multiple regression analysis. According to the research findings, teachers have found themselves highly creative. In addition, the teachers expressed that they were satisfied with their work. Furthermore, it has been observed that teachers' job satisfaction levels can be estimated statistically from their expertise, creative thinking skills, and motivation perceptions. The relative importance of the predictive dimensions on job satisfaction is as follows; "motivation," "expertise," and "creative thinking skills."

This study aims to identify (1) how EFL graduate-level students at various Turkish universities regard the level of difficulty in terms of the different sections of a scholarly work in their academic writing practices, (2) whether their perceptions concerning the difficulty of the various sections show a significant difference depending on their demographics, (3) the solutions they employ when they are challenged with difficulties in academic writing and (4) their views about the process of academic writing in general. Data from 34 graduate EFL students were reported. The study adopted a mixed-method research design, and the data were collected with "Academic Literacies Questionnaire (ALQ)" (Chang, 2006; Evans & Green, 2007). The participants also responded to open-ended questions about the challenges they face in academic writing and their solutions. The results revealed that EFL graduate students had problems with academic conventions, and found expressing themselves succinctly problematic. However, they were familiar with the mechanics of the target language.

In this study, it is aimed to determine the effects of active learning activities on viola students' performance and motivation. One group pretest-posttest experimental design was used in the study. The study group consist of 10 students, 7 of them receiving Viola training within the scope of the Individual Instrument course at Gaziosmanpasa University Fine Arts Education Department Music Education Department and 3 students within the scope of Turkish and Western Music Instruments course at Tokat Fine Arts and Sports High School. During the eight-week practice, with the students in the study group, active learning-based activities which are prepared for the viola training were carried out with students in the study group. In the study, as a means of data collection, by adapting 'Exam Performance' dimension of 'Violin Lesson Performance Form' to the viola, the 'Motivation Scale' part of 'Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire' were used. According to the results of the study, it was determined that the activities based on active learning increased viola performance success, and influenced the students' motivation for viola lesson positively.

The study analyzed the relationships between high school students' career maturity, career decision-making difficulties, and career decision-making self-efficacy and aimed to investigate whether career maturity, career decision-making difficulties and career decision-making self-efficacy altered according to gender, type of school, and grade level. The study sample was composed of 665 high school students attending five different high schools in Bursa. The data collection tools included the Career Decision-making Difficulties Questionnaire, the Career Maturity Scale, and the Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scale. Among quantitative research methods, a correlation model was applied. The analysis results revealed a weak but significant negative relationship between career maturity and career decision-making difficulties scale in terms of total scores and subscale scores. Additionally, there was a medium- and low-level significant negative relationship between the career decision-making difficulties scale total and subscale scores, and the career decision-making self-efficacy total and subscale scores. The subsequent analysis to describe the mediating role of career decision-making self-efficacy demonstrated that career decision-making self-efficacy had a partial mediating role. Furthermore, male students were found to have a more disadvantaged status than did female students in terms of career maturity. Based on the fact that students' career decision-making difficulties stemmed from the aspect of a lack of readiness, psycho education programs can be organized to determine the reasons for the lack of lack of readiness, find solutions, and provide the necessary information and skills. Future studies may focus on examining the reasons for the career maturity level differences.

This study aims to identify 250 Turkish EFL teachers' level of professional identity and professional autonomy. This study also aims to investigate whether the results differ by gender, the school in which they work, education level and work experience. Furthermore, the study aims to identify whether there is a significant relationship between EFL teachers' professional identity and their professional autonomy. In this survey-based research, the results demonstrate that EFL teachers have a very high level of professional identity and a high level of professional autonomy, and the results differ by EFL teachers' gender, school type and work experience. Results also reveal that there was a significant, positive and moderate relationship between professional identity and professional autonomy of EFL teachers. This study suggests that the freer EFL teachers feel to make decisions in their teaching and profession, the more they can define their identity in the teaching profession.

This study aims to reveal the relationship between organizational image and leadermember exchange (school principal-teacher) and organizational justice in schools. 213 teachers working in secondary schools in Hatay, who were selected via the disproportionate cluster sampling method, constitute the sample of this research. The research data were gathered by using the "Organizational Image Scale", the "Leader-Member Exchange Scale" and the "Organizational Justice Scale". The Structural Equation Modeling Analysis and descriptive analysis were implemented in the research. Measurement modelling has shown that variables are statistically positively and significantly correlated to each other. A structural model has been suggested in conformity with the theoretical framework. According to the outcomes of structural equation analysis, organizational image positively affects the leader-member exchange. Teachers' perceived organizational image positively affects perceived organizational justice with the partial mediating effect of leader-member exchange. The findings of this study were discussed and some recommendations were given.

Associations between students' socio-emotional learning skills and students' perceptions about their social sciences teachers' interpersonal behavior were investigated in this study. A primary level version of the "Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction" (QTI) was adapted into Turkish in order to gather the data concerning teacher interpersonal behaviors in the Turkish elementary classrooms. This process together with the collection of data concerning students' socio-emotional learning skills was performed in several state elementary schools with 386 students from Grade 5 and Grade 6. Descriptive statistics, Canonical Correlation Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (with Mplus) were utilized for the purposes of data analyses. The results revealed that the Turkish version of the QTI for primary schools demonstrated a reasonable fit with the data with some minor deviations. The results also indicated that students' perceptions about their teachers' leadership, helpful, uncertain and understanding behaviors were positively but admonishing, dissatisfied and strict behaviors were negatively related to students' socio-emotional learning skills.

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the English Preparatory School Language Program in a Turkish state university. Specifically, the perceptions of students and instructors for Stuffleabeam's Context Input Process Product (CIPP) model were investigated and the motivational beliefs of students for learning were examined. To meet these objectives, Stufflebeam's (1971) CIPP evaluation model was used to find out the perceptions of the two groups of participants about the current program as well as the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) developed by Pintrich et al., (1993) was administered to the students to discover their motivational beliefs for learning. The quantitative data were obtained through questionnaires administered to 54 students and 33 instructors and the qualitative data were gathered via semi-structured interviews carried out with 10 students and 5 instructors. The findings of the study revealed that although the participants were content with materials, assessment, and the teaching methods, there was a need to develop speaking and listening skills. Additionally, among the motivational beliefs of the students, control beliefs, task value, and intrinsic goal orientation were perceived to be crucial for the students. Finally, the perceptions of the students and instructors reported some strengths and weaknesses that need to be addressed in the program.

The current study aims to investigate whether there is a meaningful effect of self-efficacy and task value on the achievement approach goals in learning science. In line with this purpose, a correlational method was used in the current study. The participants of this study were 310 middle school students from six public schools (close to each other in terms of socio-economic level and opportunities) in different districts of Erzurum in Turkey. Data were collected through two previously validated instruments: The Achievement Goal Questionnaire and The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (self-efficacy and task value subscales). The Achievement Goal Questionnaire was used to determine the students' approach goal orientations (mastery-approach and performance-approach) and The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire scale was used to assess the students' task value and self-efficacy perceptions. The data obtained were analyzed in two parts. In the first part, SPSS is used for descriptive statistics about variables. The structural Equation Model was used to test the proposed model in the second part. The results of the study have shown that self-efficacy and task value influence the level of students' mastery and performance approach goals. Besides, task value has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between self-efficacy and achievement approach goals. The results of the study were discussed according to the relevant literature.

Areas where people utilize exams increase day by day. Learners intensively make an effort to achieve high scores and this process causes them to experience high levels of stress and pressure. The present study explored the moderating effect of self-efficacy beliefs in the relationship between task value and test anxiety. The research was conducted in two public high schools in Denizli (Turkey) with 729 students. 368 participants (50.5 %) were male and 361 (49.5 %) were female. Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) developed by Pintrich et al. and adapted to Turkish by Karadeniz et al. was used as the data collection tool in the study. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated in order to identify the relationship between variables. Additionally, multiple regression analyses were conducted to determine the regulating effect of self-sufficiency beliefs. The results indicated the moderating effect of self-efficacy beliefs in the relationship between task value and test anxiety. The higher self-efficacy beliefs students had, the less test anxiety they perceived. Therefore, students should be supported in a way that they can have complete, successful, and the right kind of experiences which will allow them to increase their perceptions of self-efficacy. The implications of research are discussed in light of the literature and a number of suggestions have been proposed accordingly.

Causal attributions are defined as the way people describe and evaluate their or others' behaviors. In the literature, it was found to directly and indirectly affect academic achievement as they influence parents' expectations about their children's future success, their parenting styles, and, therefore, the social and physical environment that they provide for their children. This study adapts the Parents' Attributions and Perceptions Questionnaire (PAPQ) to Turkish and collects evidence about the questionnaire's validity and reliability. The questionnaire comprises eight factors and 24 items designed to evaluate parents' causal attributions based on ability, effort, luck, and strategy for success and failure. The participants were 340 parents (235 mothers and 105 fathers), aged between 25 and 35 years (128); and high school graduates (182) with a monthly income between 2,001 and 4,000 TL (98). The mean scores calculated for the questionnaire items ranged between 1.45 and 4.42. Adjusted item total correlations were calculated; it was found that the discriminating power of the items varied between 0.43 and 0.90. As a result of the CFA, the goodness of fit values of the questionnaire was calculated as ?[superscript 2/sd = 1.92, RMSEA = 0.056, SRMR = 0.053, CFI = 0.97, and GFI = 0.89. The Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient was found to be 0.80. Based on these results, it was demonstrated that the PAPQ is a valid and reliable measuring instrument that can be used in Turkish.

Job satisfaction and organizational trust emerge as just two of the important factors that can lead all institutions to success today. The objective of this research is to analyse, the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational trust of physical education and sports teachers pursuant to some demographic variables. The research group consists of 146 physical education and sports teachers working in schools. Personal information forms, "Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire" and "Organizational Trust of School Scale" have been used as data collection tools. Pearson moments correlation coefficients have been tackled for the relationship between organizational trust and job satisfaction. It has been observed that there was a positive, significant relationship between job satisfaction and organizational trust in the research findings (p<0.05). As a result of the research, it has been predicted that factors such as the individual's location, psychological and environmental factors, working conditions, and communication have an active role in determining the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational trust.

Culture is a broad context that has the potential to affect teachers' job satisfaction. The present study investigated the relationships between self-construal and teacher job satisfaction in a collectivist culture. Participants of the study were 426 individuals from primary, secondary, and high schools (1st-12th grades) in a mid-sized city. Stepwise multiple regression analyses were used in the data analysis. The findings suggested that relational vertical, humanistic, and personal self-construal significantly predicted intrinsic satisfaction. Furthermore, collective horizontal and humanistic self-construal significantly predicted extrinsic satisfaction. Finally, collective horizontal, humanistic, and personal self-construal significantly predicted job satisfaction (total). These findings provide strong evidence of the explanatory power of self-construal in intrinsic satisfaction, extrinsic satisfaction, and job satisfaction (total).

The purpose of the current study is to determine whether the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire for Teachers (AEQT) is a psychometrically sound instrument to measure prospective teachers' teaching-related emotions. The three-factor model of the AEQT was confirmed in a prospective teacher sample. Also, reliability results showed that the AEQT is a reliable measurement tool. Measurement invariance results revealed that configural, metric, and scalar invariance were provided across gender. These findings support the use of the AEQT when examining differences based on achievement emotions across gender. For teacher training programs, only configural invariance was provided. Although configural invariance suggests that the three-factor structure of the AEQT is the same across the teacher training programs, the lack of metric invariance indicates that the relationship between the items and the underlying latent variable the AEQT factors is not the same across these groups. The observed variables are not related to the latent variable equivalently across teacher training programs. This result does not allow the comparison of path coefficients and covariances between observed and latent variables across teacher training programs. Also, the lack of scalar invariance indicates that different teacher training programs may interpret some items differently and prevent a comparison of averages between these groups.

Purpose: In the pre-school period, an active sense of curiosity, the most important developmental feature of children, is directed toward sexuality. In this context, it was aimed to develop a questionnaire to measure the sexual knowledge of children and to develop a sexuality education program based on the information level on sexual issues, and cognitive and emotional readiness of children aged 60-72 months. Research Methods: In the first stage, a questionnaire aimed at identifying sexuality knowledge level of 45 items was designed, and in the second stage, contents of 11 sessions on sexuality education program were created. For the content validity study of the questionnaire and the sexuality education program, 10 specialists were involved in data analysis. To determine the feasibility and the scoring criteria for the sexual knowledge questionnaire, a pilot scheme was carried out with 18 children aged 60-72 months attending the preschool institution. Findings: After consultation with a specialist opinion, a questionnaire for sexuality knowledge composed of 45 items was reduced to 24 items and the sexuality education program composed of 11 sessions was reduced to 8 sessions. According to the research findings, the content validity results of both the sexuality education program (KGI[greater than or equal to]KGO (0.62)), and the questionnaire on sexuality knowledge level (KGI (0.63)[greater than or equal to]KGO) were statistically significant. Implications for Research and Practice: It is thought that the sexuality education program prepared for pre-school children is suitable for pre-school programs. It will also contribute to the understanding of how the use of the questionnaire for sexuality knowledge can assess the effectiveness of sexuality education programs.

Cognitive flexibility is one of the most important skills that school administrators should have in today's world of rapid change and transformation. This study aimed to explore whether emotional intelligence and self-leadership predicted cognitive flexibility. The study universe consisted of principals and deputy principals working in primary, secondary and upper-secondary schools affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of National Education in the center and districts of Amasya in the 2019-2020 academic year. The views of participating school administrators who voluntarily participated in the study (N=204) were analyzed in the framework of the study. Self-Leadership Questionnaire, Cognitive Flexibility Scale and Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire were used as data collection tools in addition to the Personal Information Form developed by the researcher. In the analysis the data was used for the multiple regression analysis conducted to determine whether self-leadership and emotional intelligence predicted cognitive flexibility. Based on the study results, it was concluded that self-leadership and emotional intelligence together -with all their dimensions- had a predictive effect on cognitive flexibility. Based on the results of the research, it can be said that training and practices that improve administrators' emotional intelligence levels and provide them with self-leadership awareness will make an indirect contribution to cognitive flexibility skills. Based on the results of the research, it can be argued that offering training and practices that improve administrators' emotional intelligence levels and provide self-leadership awareness will make an indirect contribution to the development of their cognitive flexibility skills.

This study examined the effect of job satisfaction and satisfaction with life on perceptions of teachers' professional burnout and the regulatory role of collective teacher efficacy perception by conducting applied research on teachers who work in different educational settings. The measuring tools were "Maslach Burnout Inventory", "Short Form Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire", "Satisfaction with Life Scale" and "Collective Teacher Efficacy Scale". The findings of the research showed that: Teachers' perceptions of job satisfaction and satisfaction with life negatively affected their perceptions of professional burnout. Collective teacher efficacy had a regulatory effect on the relationship between satisfaction with life and professional burnout, and on the relationship between job satisfaction and professional burnout.

The study aims to determine the degree to which sports managers show behaviors related to management processes and to what extent the focus of control of sports managers affects these behaviors, to increase the performance of sports managers. The universe of the research consists of 1st , 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students studying at the Department of Sports Management of Usak University. The sample of the study, which was conducted with the non-probabilistic sampling method, in which 95% confidence level and 5% margin of error were used, consisted of 231 students, male = 155, female = 76. "Sports Manager Behavior Scale" and "Internal-External Locus of Control Scale" were used in the study. In general, it was determined that the students participating in the research have a very high level of sports manager behavior and internal-External Locus of Control. 95.7% of the students have internal control and 4.3% have an external locus of control.

It is aimed in this study to examine the job satisfaction and virus contagion concerns of music teachers in terms of certain variables during the COVID-19 process. Based on the correlational and causal comparison method in the research, music teachers' job satisfaction and contagion concerns during the COVID-19 process were compared according to the variables of gender, age and type of school they work. Besides, the relationship between music teachers' job satisfaction and contagion anxiety was explained with relational screening method. The sample of the study consists of 236 music teachers working in Konya, Karaman and Aksaray and determined by random sampling method. Minnesota Job Satisfaction and COVID-19 Anxiety scales were used to collect the research data. According to the research findings, job satisfaction of music teachers during the COVID-19 process differs according to gender, age and school type. Also, a negative relationship was found between COVID-19 anxiety and job satisfaction. Based on the results of the research, suggestions were made to increase the job satisfaction of music teachers and reduce their anxiety during the COVID-19 process.

The aim of this study is to determine the mediating effect of job satisfaction on teachers' effect of organizational spirituality on job performance. The study group of the study consists of 320 teachers who are selected by appropriate sampling method among the teachers working in primary schools in the central districts of Erzurum province (Yakutiye, Palandöken, Aziziye). Organizational Spirituality Scale, Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale and Job Performance Scale were used to collect data in the study. SPSS 24 and Amos programs were used to analyze the data obtained during the research process. As a result of the research, it has been determined that organizational spirituality has positive and significant effects on job satisfaction and job performance, and job satisfaction has positive effects on job performance. In addition, it was concluded that there is a partial mediation effect of job satisfaction on the effect of organizational spirituality on job performance.

This study aimed to investigate the relationships among mastery goal orientations (approach and avoidance), adaptive coping strategy (positive coping), and motivational beliefs (self-efficacy and task value) among middle school students in science. The study group consists of 249 students studying at four middle schools in one of the largest cities located in the eastern part of Turkey. The research data were collected using Achievement Goals Questionnaire, Academic Coping Inventory, and the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire. Structural equation modeling was performed using AMOS program to test the hypothesized relationships among constructs. The results showed that individuals with mastery goal orientation used more positive coping strategies. It was observed that individuals with higher self-efficacy had a higher ratio of using positive coping strategies. In addition, individuals with a high level of motivational beliefs used more mastery goal orientation. Furthermore, while mastery goal orientations positively predicted motivational beliefs and positive coping strategies, positive coping strategy was found to predict positively self-efficacy only. This study was a correlational study, but correlational studies did not help the establishment of a cause-effect (causality) relationship between the variables in question. Experimental studies can be conducted in the future to reveal the causes and effects related to the correlation between the relevant variables.

This article reviews the methodologies used in 76 empirical studies conducted on creative thinking in primary school education and published between 2011 and 2021. The studies were analysed for their context, foci of investigation and the methodologies used. Each study was coded and analysed quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings are discussed in reference to research on creative thinking and to previous relevant methodological reviews. The results showed that the country which produced the highest number of publications is China followed by the US. Most studies focused on investigating the educational factors that affect the development of creative thinking in primary education. The majority of these studies were based on quantitative approaches, with questionnaires being the most preferred data collection instrument. Based on these results, suggestions are made for future research on creative thinking in primary education.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to translate the versions of the Hearing Environments and Reflection on Quality of Life (HEAR-QL) into Turkish and investigate the validity and reliability of the Turkish 26-item HEAR-QL (HEAR-QL-26) for children and Turkish 28-item HEAR-QL (HEAR-QL-28) for adolescents. Method: The protocol included translation into Turkish and linguistic adaptation. The HEAR-QL-26 and HEAR-QL-28, respectively, were administered to 249 children (130 with hearing loss, 119 without hearing loss) and 249 adolescents (140 with hearing loss, 109 without hearing loss) between the ages of 8 and 18 years. To determine the internal consistency (reliability) of the Turkish HEAR-QL scale, Cronbach's alpha coefficient (a) was calculated for the subcategories and the total score. We measured the construct validity of the Turkish HEAR-QL-26 and HEAR-QL-28 using Pearson r correlation coefficients comparing the Turkish HEAR-QL and the Turkish Child and Adolescent Quality of Life Scale (PedsQL). Results: The reliability for both children and adolescents (Cronbach's alpha = 0.973 for HEAR-QL-26 and 0.977 for HEAR-QL-28) was high, and test-retest reliability showed strong to excellent correlations (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.980 and 0.979, respectively) for the total scores. In terms of known-group validity, the total HEAR-QL mean scores were lower for participants with hearing loss than for children/adolescents with normal hearing (p < 0.05). Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the number of original items was sufficient in the Turkish version. Both HEAR-QL versions provided a higher area under the curve (AUC = 0.984 and 0.972, respectively) than the PedsQL (AUC = 0.773 and 0.581, respectively). Conclusion: The Turkish versions of the HEAR-QL-26 child and HEAR-QL-28 adolescent questionnaires are sensitive, reliable, and valid measurement tools to evaluate the hearing-related quality of life in children and adolescents aged between 8 and 18 years.

This study aimed to determine the extent of pre-service science teachers' (PTS) process and materialistic understanding of sound concept and the role of their task value beliefs in their scientific conception of sound. With this aim, the Sound Concept Inventory Instrument (SCII) was translated and adapted to Turkish. The SCII was administered to 320 PTS from four universities across Turkey. The average percentages of correct responses of PTS to the main and subcategory questions of the SCII showed that PTS hold both materialistic and process views of sound. Moreover, the results of the regression analysis indicated that PTSs' task value belief was a significant predictor of their scientific view of sound. Based on these findings, a number of recommendations have been suggested for PTS education programs in Turkey.

Analyzing the process of how students self-regulate their learning has always been an educational research interest due to changing demographics of Digital Native learners (Prensky, 2001). This research focuses on lesson planning adapted to the Self-Regulated Learning Strategies university students develop when learning English or French and the specific factors that play a major role in defining their Self-Regulation Learning Strategies and specifically the Metacognitive and Cognitive ones. Pintrich's (2000b) Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) standardized set of learning scales was used, and specifically the Cognitive and Metacognitive scales (CMS), each of which had a set of sub-scales of Rehearsal (ENS), Elaboration (ELB), Organization (ORG), Critical Thinking (PEC), and Metacognitive Self-Regulation (ARM). Data were collected from a sample of 491 students from universities in Turkey, Chile, Iran, and Canada. The research results indicated above mean average (M=3.4) use of each of the Self-Regulated Learning strategies by the students in the four institutions and slightly higher mean (M=3.5) for the Critical Thinking strategy. The results also indicated differences in the SRL strategies among the four institutions.

This study aims at investigating values in mathematics education portrayed by elementary student teachers. Data were gathered from 401 elementary student teachers at two public universities in Turkey. The results of the study showed that overall student teachers had positive mathematics education values. They recognized that the theoretical nature of mathematics apart from its relations to daily life would be meaningless. However, they held negative mathematics education values regarding conceptual learning of mathematics. They also recognized how important it was to emphasize the affective and cognitive outcomes in mathematics programs. The findings showed that no significant differences between student teachers' mathematics education values regarding gender and year spent in the program. However, significant differences were found in theory emphasis mathematics teaching favoring female student teachers.

The significance of both science education and scientific communication has increased in parallel to the increase in scientific knowledge and rapid advances in technology. In producing students who have science literacy, skills of scientific process and higher-level thinking skills teaching-learning approach of teachers and communication between teachers and students are very significant. The purpose of this study is to determine the science teachers' and primary teachers' learning and teaching conceptions and constructivist learning environment perceptions. The sample of the study consists of 100 participants from science teachers and primary teachers working at the public schools in the Central Anatolia region. "Easily accessible sampling method" was used for the selection of the participants. The study is quantitative research and a survey method that is directed to the determination of the current state has been used. Teaching-Learning Conceptions Questionnaire (TLCQ) and Constructivist Learning Environment Survey (CLES) have been used as the means of data collecting. The findings of the study suggest that the classroom teachers had a constructivist approach in contrast to a conventional approach in regard to learning and teaching. Similarly, it was found that the science teachers had a constructivist approach in contrast to a conventional approach in regard to learning and teaching. It was found that the participants generally had a constructivist approach and that their perception of the constructivist learning setting is higher than the medium level. It was also found that the science teachers had higher perceived levels of about constructivist learning setting than the classroom teachers. The results of the MANOVA indicated that the professional experience of the participants had a significant effect on the perception levels about the constructivist learning-teaching approach. That's why the research for the reflections in application gains importance in this study.

On definitional and conceptual basis, strong correspondences exist between leadership and the teaching profession yet leadership is nonetheless occasionally studied in the classroom context. This study investigated in-class teacher leadership based on the Full Range Leadership (FRL) model in tertiary-level English language teaching context in Turkey, with the aim of eventually identifying the effective/ineffective classroom leader characteristics. This paper reports the results of a study designed with a mixed methods approach, using a questionnaire survey, which included Classroom Leadership Instrument, a modified version of Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire administered to the students and face-to-face interviews with both instructors and students. One particular subject course was determined in two English language-related departments in a Turkish state university and the instructors teaching and the students taking this course were selected as the subject group of the study. 305 students took part in the survey while among these students, 18 were further interviewed besides the four instructors teaching the course. Quantitative data were analyzed through descriptive tests while interviews and observations were content-analyzed. Both quantitative and qualitative results, in broad terms, showed that language instructors displayed all three leadership styles of FRL, namely, transformational, transactional and laissez-faire leadership, with changing extents for each style. The results indicated that instructors with higher tendencies for transformational and active components of transactional styles were rather more organized, enthusiastic and committed and they were attributed with more positive and effective characteristics by their students while those with higher passive transactional and laissez-faire leadership scores were accordingly less effective in both teaching activities and their relationships with the students. Lastly, it is concluded that transformational and active transactional leadership characteristics contribute to effective leadership inside the classroom and an integration of these characteristics into teaching practices and teacher-student interaction promises potential positive outcomes.

The rapid development and impact of nanoscience and nanotechnology (NSNT) on economy has led policy makers and educators to focus on nanotechnology education. The two main views concerning appropriate level to teach nanoscience and nanotechnology (NSNT): The first favors teaching in higher education; the second recommends familiarizing and teaching in all grade levels. Aim of this study is to determine the opinions about NSNT education and to propose NSNT education for biology curriculum using the current status. A teacher interview form was used for data collection and applied to 121 biology teachers. Data collected via questionnaires were analyzed through quantitative descriptive analysis. Biology teachers' opinions of NSNT education focused on definition, awareness, importance and developments, benefits, applications, risks and ethical issues. Participants presented view of integrating nanotechnology topics into the curriculum and expected a positive impact on students' career preferences. Teachers believed that prior training and readiness were not meeting the required levels; also, difficulties such as conceptualization and mentally visualizing, technical and infrastructure deficiencies, were the serious obstacles to be overcome for successful implementation. High cost was also a negative impact on integration of NSNT in schools/classes.

The aim of this study is to determine the awareness of science teachers about socio-scientific issues, the methods and techniques used in the teaching of socio-scientific issues, and the suggestions about effective teaching of socio-scientific issues. The sample of the study consisted of 75 science teachers (50 women, 25 men) who serve in various regions of Turkey. All participants answered the questionnaire consisting of open-ended questions. Afterward, interviews were conducted with 10 selected teachers. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. By the content analysis, it is aimed to reach the relations and concepts that can explain the collected data (Yildirim and Simsek, 2013). When the findings of the open-ended questionnaire were examined, it was determined that teachers did not associate the definition and content of the concept of the socio-scientific issue with science and they have a low level of awareness about the content. In addition, it was observed that the teachers mostly use the discussion method in the presentation of socio-scientific issues. Teachers also stated that the number of the outcomes included in the curriculum and number and diversity of socio-scientific issues in the textbooks are insufficient and they should be increased.

The purpose of this study is to carry out the linguistic equivalence, validity and reliability study of the Teacher Emotion Questionnaire (TEQ) developed by Buric, Sliškovic and Macuka (2018). After ensuring the linguistic equivalence of the Turkish form, responses of 601 teachers were tested by Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to ensure the construct validity of the scale. As a result of EFA, the scale was divided into six factors; item factor loads ranged from 0.49 to 0.85, and items in the scale explained 68.00% of the total variance. In order to verify the six-factor structure, data were collected from a study group of 255 teachers and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed. Similar results were obtained from CFA, the model was validated and model fit indexes were found to have excellent or acceptable values. After the construct validity of the scale, the reliability analysis was carried out. Cronbach's alpha (= 0.92), Spearman-Brown (= 0.67) and Guttman Split-Half (= 0.80) coefficients obtained within the scope of internal consistency reliability demonstrated that the scale had the desired internal consistency.
