The article discusses the study regarding the identification of the levels of organochlorine pesticide residues in mother's milk, in Uganda. The study is intended to identify and quantify the levels of organochlorine residues, and assess the toxicological implications to health of the breast-fed infants. According to sources, investigations on the levels of such residues in human milk can determine the potential risk of these contaminants to the health of breast-fed infants who could be regarded as the terminal link in the human food chain. Thus, it has been suggested that periodic biomonitoring of organochlorine residues is important to assess the trends of environmental contamination by these chemicals in Uganda.
