The Russian-Ukrainian war (RUW) is responsible for extensive individual suffering and a socio-economic impact on the world and is reshaping global affairs. Many studies have focused on direct exposure to conflict and several public health policies have been devised. Nonetheless, indirect exposure through media has received minimal attention and there is limited evidence that mental health symptoms and disorders may arise as a result. We explored the role of voluntary or involuntary media-based exposure to the RUW on individuals' mental health including stress symptoms, coping strategies, daily functioning, and worries across demographic variables. In our sample, subjects with involuntary and higher amount of exposure seem to have higher stress symptoms. Also, those who had previous ruminations on war issues could be at risk of developing more post-traumatic stress symptoms. Therefore, media appears to be a conduit that spreads negative consequences of community trauma beyond directly affected communities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article examines the impact of the Russian war in Ukraine on children, explores the challenges they face, and the need for targeted support. Drawing on sociological research, the author highlights the disruption of social interactions, the environment, and poor education caused by the war. She also analyzes age, regional, and migration differences in socio-psychological consequences and needs. Based on empirical data and a study conducted by the Sociological Group “Rating” among mothers, the article underscores specific manifestations of the war’s impact on Ukrainian children. The study emphasizes the importance of an individualized approach to supporting children’s resilience in times of war, taking into account their unique traumatic experiences and emphasizing the importance of addressing their specific needs to foster their development. The article examines the problem of domestic violence, which, unfortunately, is taking place in Ukraine today. Over the past 3 years, Ukraine has been shackled by various factors that greatly affect the psychological state of people. First it's a pandemic, now it's a war. Specialists do not have time to develop measures that would prevent the occurrence of this type of violence. However, it is impossible to predict exactly. Problems of protection against domestic violence can be divided into several main groups. Lack of effective legislation and its application: Often the legislation does not meet the needs of the times and does not contain a sufficient number of protective mechanisms. In addition, existing laws are often not applied effectively enough, as a result of which rapists remain outside justice. Socio-economic factors: Low level of socio-economic development of the region, low education and cultural level of families, dangerous traditions and beliefs that support violence can contribute to the spread of domestic violence. Persistent stereotypes and low educational and informational culture: Victims often do not seek help due to persistent stereotypes regarding the role of men and women in the family, fear of society's reaction and fear of losing children, as well as due to a low educational and informational culture that does not provide opportunities consciously recognize the problem and look for ways to solve it. Inadequate help and support for victims: Victims are not always given enough help and support after seeking help, which can lead to them remaining in the relationship with the abuser. Inadequate work with rapists: Usually, various forms of punishment are used for rapists, but until sufficient work is done to rehabilitate them, the problem of domestic violence will not go away. Another problem is that many victims of domestic violence do not seek help from law enforcement or social services because of fear, distrust of the system, or financial dependence on the abuser. Therefore, it is important to improve mechanisms for victims to seek help, to ensure confidentiality and safety during the application, as well as to ensure that victims understand that their rights will be protected. The war in Ukraine is a major poly-traumatic event, which leads to massive population displacements. The question of the evaluation and psychological care of psychotraumatised people is an urgent matter. As many countries hosting refugees are well endowed with a good number of psychologists, some of these interested professionals should mobilise themselves and make themselves known to carry out these clinical acts. Priority should be given to trained and experienced psychologists to support victims. The language barrier will have to be overcome. Initially, it would be desirable to make contact or get closer to local and national refugee centres to facilitate these operations. Face-to-face or remote consultations, as developed during the Covid-19 pandemic, are possible. Reinforcements of the number of available and dedicated psychologists, including remotely, from the countries hosting the most refugees, are also desirable. The issue of detection, assessment and care of psychologically traumatised people who remained on the Ukrainian territory is probably even more massive. Whether non-combatants or combatants, part of the international psychological community should mobilise, in addition to local colleagues, to provide them with this psychological help. These humanitarian actions would be feasible depending on the evolution of the conflict. Whether it is psychological support for refugees or people still on the Ukrainian soil, models for organising and coordinating these actions must be carefully considered and implemented in an evolving way to optimise their effectiveness. The article presents the general characteristics of the mental health of the population of Ukraine, analyzes the incidence of mental disorders in Ukraine during the period 2018-2020, identifies the level of medical staff in Ukraine compared to EU countries, and features of the microclimate on the psychophysiological state the body of patients and medical staff of psychiatric hospitals. The content analysis of scientific literature and the bibliosemantic method was used in the work. In the course of the analysis, the statistical data of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for the period 2018-2020 were used on the incidence of mental and behavioral disorders and the provision of medical personnel, forms No 18 of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine "Report on the work on the control of environmental factors affecting the health of the population" for the period 2014-2021. It was found that men for the period 2018-2020 were more treated and treated in hospitals from 67,2% to 65,3%, respectively, and treated in day hospitals from 57,3% to 59,4%, respectively. At the same time, women were treated on an outpatient basis from 78,9% to 81,0%, respectively, with less treatment in psychiatric hospitals from 32,8% to 34,7%, respectively. The largest share of non- compliant microclimate was in 2015 -- 11,3% and 2016 -- 12,9%, and the lowest allowance in 2014 -- 3,2%, in 2020 -- 4,4%, and 2021 -- 4,2%. Therefore, there is a need to create conditions for the provision of psychological and psychiatric care in mental health facilities of a new multidisciplinary type by qualified professionals. Objectives: The Russian-Ukrainian War of 2022 (RUW-2022) was accompanied by the subsequent risk of accidents at a nuclear power plant in Ukraine. This study investigated posttraumatic stress (PTS) symptoms related to media reports of an attack on a Ukrainian nuclear power plant during the RUW-2022 among victims of the Fukushima nuclear disaster and revealed their association with radiation risk perception (RRP) of the accident., Methods: This cross-sectional study targeted 1193 residents of Naraha Town in Fukushima Prefecture. PTS symptoms were measured using the Japanese version of the Impact of Events Scale-Revised (IES-R). Univariate and multivariate analyses explored the association between IES-R scores and background factors, particularly RRP., Results: Participants with higher RRP showed significantly higher IES-R scores; furthermore, the proportion of disruption because of radiation anxiety was significantly larger among higher RRP residents. Radiation anxiety mediated the association between RRP and PTS symptoms (total IES-R score and sub-item of intrusion)., Conclusions: People with higher RRP in Fukushima may continue to be at risk of persistent, unwanted PTS symptoms due to future nuclear crises. Therefore, mental health practitioners need to continue providing support in affected areas for a longer period than anticipated. Moreover, a population-based approach to cope with these stressors from media reports is essential.

Aim: Millions of Ukrainian children have been internally displaced or fled to other countries because of the Russian war. This systematic review focused on their health needs and future challenges for clinicians. Methods: A systematic literature search of the Medline, Embase and MedRxiv databases from 1 January 2010 to 31 March 2022 identified 1628 papers on the health of Ukrainian children and 112 were relevant to this review. Results: In 2019, under‐5 mortality was 8 per 1000 live births in Ukraine. Underweight and adverse childhood experiences, including child abuse, were frequent compared to other European countries, while childhood obesity seemed less common. Alcohol consumption was common in women of reproductive age, including during pregnancy, risking foetal alcohol syndrome. Neonatal screening programmes provided low coverage. Vaccine hesitancy was common and vaccination rates were low. Other concerns were measles, HIV, antibiotic resistance and multi‐resistant tuberculosis. Many children are expected to suffer from psychological and physical trauma due to the war. Other healthcare challenges include low COVID‐19 vaccination rates and a preference for secondary and tertiary care, rather than primary care. Many people cannot afford medication. The research is aiming to clarify the following features of Ilko Borshchak (Élie Borschak) life path activity, as follow: circumstances of his birth; general patterns and individual features of socialization; reconstructing the obstacles of Ilko Borshchak spatial displacements throughout his early life; discovering the network of intellectual relations with contemporaries, reading preferences and the shaping of the main ideological aspirations and life strategies of the classic of Ukrainian historiography Ilko Borshchak in the period covered la belle époque, World War I, Revolution and ending with his settlement in France in 1920. The research methodology. The biography of Ilko Borshchak was reconstructed by comparing two dominant text projections, namely the ego narratives (1) and institutional documents (2). In contrast to his later Ukrainian ego-narrative identity, which reinterpreted and concealed circumstances of his origin, childhood, and adolescence (Erving Hoffman's stigma identity concept), the institutional documents relating to religious, educational, military, or police aspects of Ilko Borshchak life testifies to the existence of two earlier strong sociocultural affiliations - Jewish and Russian. Therefore, the choice of Ukrainian identity was a late and rational result of the Ilko Borshchak re-identification process. Our study's explanation strategies are well correlated with Paul Ricoeur's theory of narrative identity and the psychology of deviant behavior. The scientific novelty. In our study, we implement modern research approaches in the field of biography and propose an introduction to the intellectual biography of Ilko Borshchak. As a conclusion, we can conclude that Borshchak's version of his own past was a narrative fiction constructed by Borshchak himself. Still, nevertheless, that mythological image was both uncritically and successfully integrated into historiography. Particularly noteworthy are his mystifications about the origin, education, and own participation in the World War I. According to the materials based in archives of Moldova, Russia, USA, France, Ukraine, was clarified the question of his family roots; into historiography for the first time was introduced a metric record birth of July 19 (31) 1894 in the Bălți, Bessarabian province; analyzed the documents of his personal file from 1914 to 1915 at the University of Saint Volodymyr; as well as information from the French General Security Police (Sureté Générale) and the Soviet People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs (NKVD), including the criminal case of his father, Leon Barshak. Media art therapy as an opportunity for self-expression through the media creativity is an effective strategy to preserve psychological health and prevent media traumas. The development of media art therapy is a natural part of the postmodern art therapy development path. The usage of the art therapeutic technologies enables the facilitation of media consumers "exit" from the "passive consumers" roles. Media art therapy creates the environment that helps to express the accumulated feelings including those from the interaction with media, thus it helps to prevent media traumatism and expand the level of personal media culture. The application experience of media art therapy (namely, the creation of plasticine cartoons) proved the capability of the method to overcome the psycho traumatism consequences to solve the conflicts and could be used to support the peacebuilding initiatives by sharing the content on Internet.
