The activity of woodworking enterprises of the Western region and their place in the market of woodworking of Ukraine is invest igated. The types of activity of active woodworking enterprises are characterized. The degree of diversificat ion of the activity of woodworking enterprises has been invest igated, as well as the most promising forms for the direct ions of economic activity in the woodworking industry have been substant iated by carrying out a detailed analysis of enterprises of the Western region, which have posit ioned themselves as act ive market part icipants. The main groups of enterprises are dist inguished by the degree of processing, according to the product chain of woodworking. The main problems of the timber market in the context of business development are pointed out. It is noted that the timber industry has significant potential for doing business, in part icular, growing demand, raw material potent ial, free market niches in certain sectors of the timber business.
