The article discusses emergence of transient abnormal Q waves during exercise electrocardiography in Great Britain. The possible causes of this abnormality include electrical axis alteration caused by hyperventilation, rate related fascicular block and reversible ischaemia. The appearance of Q waves during exercise can be explained by the presence of a long strip of real time lead II at the bottom of the printout, which indicates that the Q waves were an artefact of computer processing.
