Background and Objectives The age-friendly cities and communities (AFCC) agenda has led to a range of policy initiatives aimed at supporting aging in place for older people. While there is case study evidence of how people age across urban contexts, there has been little research exploring cross-national understandings of age-friendly places among older people. The objective of this article is to identify the place experiences of older people living across cities and communities in India, Brazil, and the United Kingdom and to discuss implications for the AFCC agenda. Research Design and Methods A total of 300 semistructured interviews were undertaken with older people across 9 cities and 27 communities in India, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis undertaken by each national team and then discussed and revised at collaborative workshops with researchers from each of the 3 country teams. Results The data capture the ways in which place is constructed from the perspective of older people drawing upon social, community, and cultural dimensions of aging across diverse urban environments. We explore how older people negotiate place in the context of their everyday life and identify the relational and interconnected ways in which place attachment, belonging, and identity are constructed. Discussion and Implications Age-friendly interventions need to attend to the changing physical, social and cultural dimensions of aging and place. Community involvement in archaeological digs aims to reconnect people with the history and heritage of where they live. This paper applies social psychological theories to understand how community archaeological projects create opportunities for place-based social identity and positive intergroup relations. Focus groups were conducted across five areas of Greater Manchester (UK) with 24 participants who volunteered for Dig Greater Manchester, a community archaeology initiative. The focus groups aimed to understand how experiences of participating in digs and exploring local heritage modified, strengthened or initiated identification with place and community, thus moving from individual levels to social levels of identity. The findings offer insight as to the ways in which people make sense of their own-and others'-place-based social identities as a result of participating in community archaeological digs . Discourse analysis is employed to explore the discursive terrain of an environmental dispute concerning proposals for an opencast coalmine in West Yorkshire, England. Three dominant discourses are entangled in a framing contest over the nature of ‘nature’ as the consequential construction will have profound implications for the planning process and the people involved. The case study is particularly attentive to the notion of local identity, and how local actors employ strategic representations of nature to defend and transcend their sense of place. This is demonstrated by local opposition whereby the essentialism of nature and scale has been effectively challenged throughout the dispute. The study also elucidates the complex relationship between local and trans-local mobilisation, and how a form of grassrootsrealpolitikhas enabled two protest groups to unite and advance an amalgamated discourse of opposition in order to achieve the common objective of keeping the coal underground. Competitive cities are currently working on how to improve the interaction between culture, regeneration building, economic development and social renewal in order to achieve more comprehensive development. It is a question not only of boosting the economies of culture but also producing new economies, starting from cultural capital, understood as an element of the expression of place identity, and as forming a system together with other types of urban capital. In this context, new alternative strategies and urban policies should be considered. Indeed, creativity is found not only in the typical characteristics of the entrepreneurial spirit but also in forms such as the dissemination of behaviour that is favourable to cultural exchange as well as the enhancement of lifestyle diversity. Starting from these premises, this paper aims to investigate the concept of the creative city: who the drivers are, the factors that condition creativity in cities, and how they stimulate sustainable urban regeneration and innovation. Within the framework of cultural clusters, the case study of Bordeaux is illustrated. The urban transformation offered by the 'Bordeaux les deux rives' project and the other pilot projects are Bordeaux's driving force for planning and producing new social, cultural and economic change, which enhances the city's image.
