The article presents a study of the long distance movements in coastal bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in Great Britain and Ireland sites. The study uses photographs of natural markings to examine the potential of common bottlenose dolphins for long distance movements. It reveals evidence for connectivity between areas that have been regarded as discrete. It highlights the need to mitigate broader-scale anthropogenic impacts on dolphins in various sites across their coastal range, as well as the importance of creating wider conservation measures in British and Irish waters.
