The article focuses on the findings of The British randomized Bladder Cancer 2001. The study concluded that the addition of a very tolerable regimen of chemotherapy to radiotherapy significantly cures more patients than radiotherapy alone and at the same rate as those in the best cystectomy series. Furthermore, the proportion of patients requiring radical cystectomy for salvage therapy was remarkably low. Salvage cystectomy was considered as an important curative backup.
