Abstract

The article focuses on several chemical systems used in wood finishing in the U.S. The nitrocellulose lacquers were the first to be used in semi-industrial wood finishing. Acid curing lacquers produced durable and hard film which is suitable for furniture, chairs and tables. Waterborne lacquers were used for wall painting and applied to wood finishing to eliminate the solvent emissions of paints.
