Abstract

The article presents the research of Caroline J. Gallant and team on the tuberculin skin test (TST) and in vitro assays to assess its redundancy and to measure antimycobacterial immunity of children and adolescents in the U.S. Researchers studied 475 healthy HIV-negative children and adults in tuberculosis (TB) hyperendemic area by diluting 7-day whole-blood assay. They found that both are nonredundant and complementary measures to provide valuable information on antimycobacterial immunity.
