Studies investigating the relationship between dietary vitamin B1 intake and risk of Hyperuricemia (HU) are scarce, the present study aimed to examine the association of dietary vitamin B1 intake and HU among adults. This cross-sectional study included 5750 adults whose data derived from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from March 2017 to March 2020. The dietary intake of vitamin B1 was assessed using 24-h dietary recall interviews. The characteristics of study participants were grouped into five levels according to the levels of vitamin B1 quintile. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of HU, according to the vitamin B1 intake quintile for male and female separately. The dose–response relationship was determined by the restricted cubic spline (RCS). Smoothed curve fitting was used to assess serum uric acid concentration versus dietary vitamin B1 intake in the study population. The prevalence of hyperuricemia was 18.90% (20.15% and 17.79% for males and females, respectively) in the United States from March 2017 to March 2020. Multiple logistic regression analyses showed that in the male population, the HU ratio (OR) of vitamin B1 intake in Q2 to Q5 compared with the lowest quintile (Q1) was 0.75 (95% CI 0.52, 1.09), 0.70 (95% CI 0.48, 1.02), 0.66 (95% CI 0.44, 0.99) and 0.55 (95% CI 0.34, 0.90). The P for trend was 0.028. In women, the ORs for vitamin B1 intake Q2 to Q5 were 0.87 (95% CI 0.64, 1.19), 0.97 (0.68–1.38), 1.05 (0.69–1.60) and 0.75 (0.42–1.34), respectively. The P for trend was 0.876. The RCS curve revealed a linear relationship between vitamin B1 intake and the risk of hyperuricemia in men (P nonlinear = 0.401). Smoothed curve fitting demonstrated a negative association between vitamin B1 intake and serum uric acid concentration in men, whereas there was no significant association between dietary vitamin B1 intake and the risk of hyperuricemia in women. Adolescent attachment to formal and informal institutions has emerged as a major focus of criminological theories since the publication of Hirschi's work in 1969. This study attempts to examine the psychometric equivalence of the factorial structure of attachment measures across nations reflecting Western and Eastern cultures. Twelve manifest variables are used tapping the concepts of adolescent attachment to parents, school, and neighborhood. Confirmatory factor analysis is used to conduct invariance test across approximately 3,000 Chinese and U.S. adolescents. Results provide strong support for a three-factor model; the multigroup invariance tests reveal mixed results. While the family attachment measure appears invariant between the two samples, significant differences in the coefficients of the factor loadings are detected in the school attachment and neighborhood attachment measures. The results of regression analyses lend support to the predictive validity of three types of attachment. Finally, the limitations of the study are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Cardiovascular health level according to the American Heart Association's Life's Essential 8 (LE8) in China and its effectiveness on the 10-year and lifetime risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases is unclear., Methods: This prospective study included 88,665 participants in the China-PAR cohort (data from 1998 to 2020) and 88,995 in the Kailuan cohort (data from 2006 to 2019). Analyses were conducted by November 2022. LE8 was measured according to the American Heart Association's LE8 algorithm, and a high cardiovascular health status was defined as a LE8 score ≥80 points. Participants were followed for the primary composite outcomes, including fatal and nonfatal acute myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and hemorrhagic stroke. The lifetime risk was estimated from the cumulative risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases through ages 20-85 years, the association of LE8 and LE8 change with atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases was assessed with the Cox proportional-hazards model, and partial population-attributable risks evaluated the proportion of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases that could be averted., Results: The mean LE8 score was 70.0 in the China-PAR cohort and 64.6 in the Kailuan cohort, with 23.3% and 8.0% of participants having a high cardiovascular health status, respectively. Participants in the highest quintile had about 60% lower 10-year and lifetime risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases in the China-PAR and Kailuan cohorts than participants with the lowest quintile LE8 score. If everyone maintained the highest quintile of LE8 score, approximately half of the atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases could be prevented. The participant with LE8 score that increased from the lowest to the highest tertile during 2006-2012 had a 44% (hazard ratio=0.56; 95% CI=0.45, 0.69) lower observed risk and a 43% (hazard ratio=0.57; 95% CI=0.46, 0.70) lower lifetime risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases than those remaining in the lowest tertile in the Kailuan cohort., Conclusions: The LE8 score was below optimal levels in Chinese adults. Background: The American Heart Association Committee recently developed definitions of "ideal," "intermediate," and "poor" cardiovascular health based on 7 cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors or health behaviors. This study evaluated the prevalence of "ideal" American Heart Association cardiovascular health metrics from June 2006 to October 2007 in the Kailuan cohort (n=101 510; age 18-98 years) in northern China and its relationship with the 4-year CVD incidence., Methods and Results: We used Cox proportional hazards regression to calculate hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals for baseline health behaviors and risk factor categories. The majority of participants (63,676; 69.45%) presented with ≤3 ideal cardiovascular health metrics, whereas 8342 participants (9.1%) had 5 to 7 ideal metrics. Only 93 of 91,698 participants (0.1%) had all 7 metrics in the ideal range. There was a strong relationship between the cumulative incidence of CVD events in the 4-year follow-up and the number of ideal health metrics at baseline; the 1111 participants with 6 and 7 ideal metrics had a significantly lower cumulative incidence of CVD than subjects with no or only 1 ideal health metric (0.8% versus 3.3%). Men had higher rates of CVD events than women (2.46% versus 1.18%)., Conclusions: Few adults had ideal cardiovascular health according to the modified American Heart Association definition. We detected a strong inverse relationship between the cumulative CVD incidence and the number of ideal health metrics at baseline. Population-wide prevention, especially lifestyle improvement, is critical to increase the low-risk prevalence and thereafter decrease CVD events.
