The article discusses the germplasm collection efforts in the U.S. The North Central Regional Plant Introduction Station (NCRPIS) in Ames, Iowa is part of more than 25 active germplasm conservation sites coordinated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Aside from this, the Seeds of Success (SOS) Program is working to establish the living collection of seeds from native plants in the U.S. These programs allow researchers to maintain and restore native landscapes more effectively and address the increasing concerns about invasive species.
