The article focuses on dealing with cultural diversity in education, especially for art teachers, in the U.S. The author emphasized that due to the differences in cultural backgrounds of students in American public schools, the role of the art educator as an agent for developing cultural identity and understanding is of significance. He discussed approaches in dealing with cultural diversity, the discourage differences approach and the encourage differences approach, and the cultural differences model.
