The author highlights two articles on data asset management (DAM) that were published in the May 2018 issue of "Computers in Libraries." Another is Lee Boulie's story on the success of a DAM project at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee.

An interview with NICD's (National Institute for Civil Discourse) deputy director Raquel Goodrich, is presented. She expresses that NICD was formed to revive civility in U.S. by inviting Americans to suggest, support and practice the movement and has a different method of approaching the youth. She states 100,000 youths participated in their cell-phone based TTA (Text, Talk, Act) program which initiates a conversation about mental health.

The article presents the author's insights about the role of technology in the news and information industries. Topics include the storage and preservation of digital data, news preservation effort by the news and information industries, and the Journalism Digital News Archive initiative for news preservation and preservation of digital news content.

The article focuses on the need of preventing fake news, as of January 2017. It states that the impact of results of 2016 U.S. presidential election on increasing significance of fake news in the media, citing the supposed surprise caused by victory of President-elect Donald J. Trump, proving media predictions about victory of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. It notes views of National Association for Media Literacy Education on role of media literacy in preventing fake news.

The article reviews various articles on the subject of computers in libraries. In her article in the March 2008 issue of "Computers in Libraries," Amy Begg De Groff discussed how she and her staff at Howard County Library in Maryland used open source software to give the library's patrons what they wanted such as web-accessible computers that were loaded with word processing features. In her article in the March/April 2008 issue of "ONLINE," Cynthia Padilla reviews the various uses of geographic information systems.

This article looks at some Web-based information resources in the U.S. in 2007. The social bookmarking phenomenon called del.icio.us helps searchers track Web themes, or memes. While a browser bookmark list is tied to a specific computer, del.icio.us lets users access saved sites from any Internet-enabled device. The Georgia State University Library's Southern Labor Archives Web site offers digitized publications of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. There were two goals: creating preservation copies of the volumes and providing searchable online versions of the publications for a worldwide userbase through a digital library system.

The article presents an overview of articles dealing with the changing trend in library funding and the changing roles of library in the U.S. Mary Baykan discusses the successful campaign of Maryland to increase its library funding. Susan Klopper tells her transitional experiences of going from the typical librarian or information professional job into new and demanding job in which their library skills prove invaluable. Terence K. Huwe explores how librarians can follow the media to new organization roles

The article highlights articles published in various periodicals related to library science. In his article published in Computers in Libraries, Michael Sauers provides a framework for writing policies for public-access wireless networks. He provides the components of a policy set up by the Smoky Hill branch of the Arapahoe Library District in Colorado. In the March/April issue of Online, editor Marydee Ojala outlines the search capabilities of Google Book Search. In her article published in Searcher, Paula Berinstein addresses the central question that concerns information professionals: reliability.

The article discusses several articles about information technology and libraries. Karen Coombs, information technology and instruction librarian at the State University of New York chronicles how she created a single interface that would allow users to search all holdings catalogs at once. She decided to use XML as her mode of operation. Coombs' key to victory was making the two lists appear to be one on the Web by linking two pieces of data, the ISSN number and title. In another article, Matthew McBride focuses on two of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) executive offices as well as its seven primary mission areas. McBride summarizes the types of information available from the seven primary mission areas. Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services aims to keep U.S. farmers growing through uncertain weather and economic times. The mission of the Rural Development area is to improve the economy and quality of life for residents in rural America. Irene McDermott, on the other hand, wrote about Web sites that can help people get a handle on the different candidates for the presidential election. McDermott recommends a number of good overview sites, such as CNN's American Votes 2004, Presidential Primary Preview and Democracy in Action: P2004.

The article presents information on a new multimedia CD-ROM that chronicles Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton's run for the White House. The CD-ROM is launched by Warner New Media in association with Epicenter Communications and Amazing Media. "Called Clinton: Portrait of Victory," the CD-ROM is a collection of text, audio and images based upon "Time" magazine's award-winning photographer P.F. Bentley's often candid snapshots of Clinton, wife Hillary, and daughter Chelsea. With the candidate's full cooperation, photojournalist Bentley traveled with the Clinton entourage, able to capture the private moments and stones that no one else on the campaign trail could. Added to the public stops and personal appearances that Bentley also photographed, "Clinton: Portrait of Victory" provides a complete profile of Clinton's boundless resilience as he dodges would-be setbacks and stands up to scandals, winning over enough Americans along the way to vote him and his call for change into the White House. Divided into three major themes, "The Assignment," "The Candidate," and "The Campaign," the CD-ROM looks through the camera lens at a wide range of events that contributed, sometimes hindered, but never stopped Bill Clinton from realizing his lifelong dream of becoming president of the United States.

The article focuses on Jacques-Paul Migne, the 19th century priest from Paris who end up editing a 221-volume anthology that 200 years later is cited by the New York Public Library as one of its top 10 requested reference collections. An ecclesiastical publisher as well as a man of the cloth, Migne set out to put together the ultimate chronology of the development of the Christian doctrine for his fellow priests. The collection is known as Patrologia Latina. This literally means the study of the writings of the forefathers. And in his own mind's eye, all the texts that Migne included related in some way to the history of Christianity and the Christian church. Vice President of Chadwyck-Healey Inc. Eric M. Calaluca has an abundant knowledge of Migne and his vast edition, for he has spent more than three years overseeing Chadwyck-Healey's efforts in converting the Patrologia Latina volumes to CD-ROM and magnetic tape formats. The resulting Patrologia Latina Database is Chadwyck-Healey's highly ambitious electronic publishing project that, upon completion in late 1993, will offer full-text access to Migne's compilation, which Calaluca estimates to be about 155,000 pages worth of the written logos.

A review of several articles in other journals is presented, including the CyberSelection article by Susanne Bjørner investigating the source of pop-up surveys published in the November/December 2012 issue of "The CyberSkeptic's Guide to Internet Research" and the article "Embedding Librarians to Create Community Connections" in the November/December 2012 issue of "MLS"

The article explores the expansion of Information Today Inc. (ITI) from its sole operation in Medford, New Jersey to numerous satellite offices in the U.S. President and chief executive officer (CEO) Tom Hogan Sr. claims that the expansion was not intentional. According to content vice president (VP) Dick Kaser, the development and expansion of the information industry was affected by the growth of ITI. He adds that the solidification of ITI offerings can be attributed to "KMWorld" magazine.

The article profiles Sheri Lanza, editor of "The CyberSkeptic's Guide to Internet Research," and Bob Berkman, editor of "The Information Advisor." Both Lanza and Berkman are considered experts on packing a ton of information into these two eight-page newsletters. Lanza completed her undergraduate work at the University of Michigan. Berkman earned his masters degree in journalism from the University of Montana.

The article features Hugh McKellar, editor-in-chief at "KMWorld." Born in Los Angeles, California, McKellar studied at the University of California-Los Angeles. He used to work as a freelance writer and in content-strategy development for several business-to-business websites. He is now based in Camden, Maine. According to McKellar, knowledge management is about attitude. He also reveals the secret behind "KMWorld's" success.

The article features Stephen Nathans-Kelly, editor-in-chief of "EventDV" magazine. After graduating from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, he worked at a boarding school in Massachusetts, editing the alumni magazine, coaching cross-country and track and serving as an advisor to student publications. Nathans-Kelly describes "EventDV" as a business and technology trade magazine for professional event, wedding and corporate videographers.

The article presents news briefs related to the computer industry in the U.S. The Software & Information Industry Association has launched its Corporate Content Anti-Piracy Program. The association will also present its first Certified Content Manager course to educate users on ways to manage their content assets. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded a $2 million grant to Web-Junction to enhance the usability of the Web site and keep it in pace with its audience and growing content.

This article deals with the Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) Business Credit Services reports that are available online in November 1990. Business Information Report, Payment Analysis Report, and Family Tree Service can be accessed through a NewsNet intelligent gateway. According to Patricia McParland, NewsNet Marketing Communications Specialist, the D&B business-information reports have been accessible via NewsNet since September 17, 1990, but the gateway was not publicly announced until October 1 in order for current NewsNet subscribers to beta test the service. The Business Information Report is an information tool for commercial credit and risk management, covering millions of U.S. companies. The Payment Analysis Report provides company payment histories and trends as reported to D&B. With the Family Tree Service, inter- and intra-company relationships can be determined, and company branches or subsidiaries can be tracked back to their family headquarters or parent company.
