Background: Studies on the association between urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (uACR) and diabetes are limited. We aimed to examine the association between uACR and diabetes among adults in the United States, with particular interest in sex differences. Methods: Overall, 5307 participants were included in this study. The exposure variable was uACR, where uACR = urine albumin/urine creatinine. The primary outcome of this study was diabetes, defined as self-reported physician diagnosis of diabetes, fasting plasma glucose concentration ≥ 7.0 mmol/L, or use of glucose-lowering drugs. Results: The average age of the participants in this study was 46.37 ± 17.38 years, 818 (15.41%) had diabetes and the median uACR was 7 mg/g (interquartile range, 4–12 mg/g). There was a significant positive association between uACR and diabetes (per natural log [uACR] increment: OR, 1.81; 95% CI 1.39–2.34). A multivariate logistic regression model demonstrated that per unit increment in LguACR, the diabetes prevalence increased 2.26-fold among male participants (OR 2.26, 95% CI 1.59–3.21). However, in female participants, we observed that uACR was not related to the prevalence of diabetes (odds ratio [OR], 1.28; 95% CI 0.82–2.01). Our findings showed that there was an interaction between sex and uACR (P for interaction = 0.049). Conclusions: A higher uACR is significantly associated with an increased prevalence of diabetes, and sex can modify the relationship between them. Several theories explaining the post-introduction evolution of invasive plants predict that specialist-enemy release often leads to decreased defense in introduced plants, but how novel generalist consumers in the introduced ranges affect plant-defense evolution remains largely unexplored. According to the shifting defense hypothesis, the decreased defense against specialist enemies may result in the increased defense against generalists. We compared resistance and tolerance of native (from the USA) and invasive populations (from China) of Spartina alterniflora to the dominant generalist insect Laelia coenosa in China. We also compared leaf traits between Spartina population origins. We found that Laelia had lower performance on invasive than on native Spartina populations. Native Spartina populations, however, had a greater capacity to compensate for leaf damage by Laelia than invasive ones. Although specific leaf area and leaf carbon content did not significantly vary between Spartina origins, invasive Spartina populations had lower leaf-nitrogen content than native populations. These results suggest that, following its introduction to China, Spartina has developed increased resistance but decreased tolerance to the generalist herbivore, which may be related to evolutionary increases in leaf carbon-to-nitrogen ratio. These findings enhance our understanding of invasive plant defense against generalist herbivores in the introduced ranges and highlight the trade-off between resistance and tolerance. As a main intelligence collection processing and dissemination system of U. S. military forces, the Distributed Common Ground Station ( DCGS) has made a great progress in recent years for benefiting from the global information grid (GIG), cloud technology and big data technology, etc. This paper briefly introduces the developing progress of U. S. DCGS, with emphasis on the status and features of Air Force DCGS-AF and Army DCGS-A, including the architecture and ability of DCGS-AF Block 10.2 and DCGS -A 3.0 Griffin software, etc. According to operational applications of DCGS in Iraq and Afghanistan, it analyzes the future trends of DCGS in hope of providing reference for those concerned. Objective: Paragangliomas of the urinary bladder (UBPGLs) are rare neuroendocrine tumours and pose a diagnostic and surgical challenge. It remains unclear what factors contribute to a timely presurgical diagnosis. The purpose of this study is to identify factors contributing to missing the diagnosis of UBPGLs before surgery., Design, Patients and Measurements: A total of 73 patients from 11 centres in China, and 51 patients from 6 centres in Europe and 1 center in the United States were included. Clinical, surgical and genetic data were collected and compared in patients diagnosed before versus after surgery. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify clinical factors associated with initiation of presurgical biochemical testing., Results: Among all patients, only 47.6% were diagnosed before surgery. These patients were younger (34.0 vs. 54.0 years, p < .001), had larger tumours (2.9 vs. 1.8 cm, p < .001), and more had a SDHB pathogenic variant (54.7% vs. 11.9%, p < .001) than those diagnosed after surgery. Patients with presurgical diagnosis presented with more micturition spells (39.7% vs. 15.9%, p = .003), hypertension (50.0% vs. 31.7%, p = .041) and catecholamine-related symptoms (37.9% vs. 17.5%, p = .012). Multivariable logistic analysis revealed that presence of younger age (<35 years, odds ratio [OR] = 6.47, p = .013), micturition spells (OR = 6.79, p = .007), hypertension (OR = 3.98, p = .011), and sweating (OR = 41.72, p = .013) increased the probability of initiating presurgical biochemical testing., Conclusions: Most patients with UBPGL are diagnosed after surgery. Background: The linkage between psoriasis and hypertension has been established through observational studies. Despite this, a comprehensive assessment of the combined effects of psoriasis and hypertension on all-cause mortality is lacking. The principal aim of the present study is to elucidate the synergistic impact of psoriasis and hypertension on mortality within a representative cohort of adults residing in the United States., Methods: The analysis was conducted on comprehensive datasets derived from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Study spanning two distinct periods: 2003-2006 and 2009-2014. The determination of psoriasis status relied on self-reported questionnaire data, whereas hypertension was characterized by parameters including systolic blood pressure ≥ 140 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure ≥ 90 mmHg, self-reported physician diagnosis, or the use of antihypertensive medication. The assessment of the interplay between psoriasis and hypertension employed multivariable logistic regression analyses. Continuous monitoring of participants' vital status was conducted until December 31, 2019. A four-level variable amalgamating information on psoriasis and hypertension was established, and the evaluation of survival probability utilized the Kaplan-Meier curve alongside Cox regression analysis. Hazard ratios (HRs) and their associated 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were computed to scrutinize the correlation between psoriasis/hypertension and all-cause mortality., Results: In total, this study included 19,799 participants, among whom 554 had psoriasis and 7,692 had hypertension. The findings from the logistic regression analyses indicated a heightened risk of hypertension among individuals with psoriasis in comparison to those devoid of psoriasis. Throughout a median follow-up spanning 105 months, 1,845 participants experienced all-cause death. In comparison to individuals devoid of both hypertension and psoriasis, those with psoriasis alone exhibited an all-cause mortality HR of 0.73 (95% CI: 0.35-1.53), individuals with hypertension alone showed an HR of 1.78 (95% CI: 1.55-2.04), and those with both psoriasis and hypertension had an HR of 2.33 (95% CI: 1.60-3.40). In the course of a stratified analysis differentiating between the presence and absence of psoriasis, it was noted that hypertension correlated with an elevated risk of all-cause mortality in individuals lacking psoriasis (HR 1.77, 95% CI: 1.54-2.04). Notably, this association was further accentuated among individuals with psoriasis, revealing an increased HR of 3.23 (95% CI: 1.47-7.13)., Conclusions: The outcomes of our investigation demonstrated a noteworthy and positive association between psoriasis, hypertension, and all-cause mortality. Background and Aims: A relationship exists between dietary copper intake and hypertriglyceridemia in the United States (US). However, children and adolescents have there is limited research data for children and adolescents, who have not been thoroughly investigated. This study aimed to carefully evaluate this relationship., Methods and Results: This cross-sectional study included 3982 children and adolescents who participated in the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2006. The outcome variable was hypertriglyceridemia, defined as a triglyceride (TG) concentration >150 mg/dL. Multivariate and binary logistic regression models were applied in this study. The median (Q1-Q3) copper intake and TG levels were 0.98 (0.71-1.32) mg/d and 72.00 (53.00-100.00) mg/dL, respectively. The smoothing curve showed an inverted L-shaped relationship between copper intake and the prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia in American children and adolescents. A binary logistic regression model was developed to evaluate the relationship between copper intake and the prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia, and the inflection point was 0.76 mg/d. The odds of developing hypertriglyceridemia significantly increased with increasing levels of copper intake (odds ratio (OR), 2.00; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.39-2.86) in participants with copper intake >0.76 mg/d (P for log likelihood ratio test = 0.032). The association between high copper intake and increased hypertriglyceridemia risk was significantly stronger in participants with a high body mass index (BMI; ≥23 kg/m 2 ) (OR: 2.09; 95% CI: 1.42-3.07) than in those with a low BMI (tertile 1-2) (p for interaction = 0.048).
