The article presents a study which examines the differential fledging production of tree swallows with the use of nest boxes in two artificial environments in western Washington. The researcher created and monitored nest boxes in two Washington sites to identify if a wetland constructed to treat fish hatchery cleaning effluent improves the nest productivity and success of tree swallows. It shows that tree swallows nested in all the boxes installed by the researchers within the two artificial areas. It reveals that there were five house sparrow, six violet-green swallow, seven western bluebird, 3 Bewick's wren, and five black-capped chickadee nests in the boxes.
